Murder City Mayor Brandon Johnson has successfully killed the “Shot Spotter” contract for Chicago. Despite its proven success saving lives in inner-city neighborhoods, Brandon Johnson calls it a waste of money. This past weekend marked the end of the service contract. And while it didn’t make Chicago money like red-light cameras and other traffic cameras, it still saved lives in high-crime neighborhoods by sending police so they could check out shots-fired and if they find victims, to quickly summon medical aid so paramedics and docs could save lives.
Not any more though.
It didn’t take long for the system’s disconnection to get tied to a homicide.

CHICAGO — Less than 24 hours after Chicago ended its relationship with ShotSpotter, a Chicago police officer found a woman shot and critically injured on a South Side street previously served by the gunfire detection system.
Nobody called 911 to report hearing gunshots in the area, and no one called to report a shooting victim.\
A CPD sergeant came upon the 30-year-old woman on the sidewalk in the 7700 block of South Dobson around 9:15 p.m. on Monday. She had suffered two gunshot wounds to her leg and was taken in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, CPD said.
She told police that a man in a black car shot her, according to preliminary information.
Officers found shell casings by following the woman’s blood trail. One casing was located a few steps away on Dobson. Another was found in a vacant lot in the 7700 block of South Greenwood.
A witness told police that they heard a gunshot in the area and saw the woman run into a gangway and collapse, according to an officer at the scene. Yet, the city did not receive a 911 call about that.
There you go. She bled out because nobody reported the shooting and Shot Spotter wasn’t there to notify police.
Why was Mayor Mayhem so hot to cancel the system? He says it was a waste of money, but the real reason probably had more to do with the black and brown gang members who got arrested for illegally using guns to shoot at other people.
Yes, he called it a waste of money. Yet the state of Illinois is squandering upwards of $180 MILLION on “violence prevention” programs that clearly aren’t working as evidenced by the rising tide of violent crime in Mayhem City. And Johnson and his friends aren’t describing that as a waste of money.

You say a homicide, but nowhere in there does it say that she died.
