Chicago’s leaders are playing new games in Chicago homicide numbers, in collusion with the mainstream media, making “guns” the enemy instead of the many underlying causes of inner-city, rampant violence.
The Sun-Times reported that four people were killed and 35 more were wounded in “shootings” across the city this past weekend in their summary of the weekend’s “violence”. The Sun-Times, in that headline article, was playing fast and loose with the facts.
The Sun-Times made no mention that two of those “shootings” were legally justified self-defense in their headline article. Here’s how they described the justifiable self-defense in their summary story:
About 1:15 a.m. Saturday, a man was killed and a woman was wounded in a shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

A police officer’s wife is in serious condition after she was shot by a shotgun-wielding elderly neighbor during a dispute that ended with the officer fatally shooting the man.
The incident occurred about 2:15 p.m., when an off-duty Chicago Police officer was at home in the 8400 block of South Carpenter Avenue and he heard a verbal argument between his wife and a female neighbor, according to a statement from police News Affairs. The officer went outside and saw the female neighbor throwing rocks and dirt at his wife and striking her with a broom. A male in the neighbors’ backyard then retrieved a shotgun and fired shots at the officer’s wife, striking her in the arm and head, the statement said.
Police said off-duty officer then fired shots at the male. The female neighbor then tried to pick up the shotgun, despite instructions by the officer. The officer then fired shots and struck the female, the statement said.
Second City Cop noted that there were additional homicides, also not reported by the Sun-Times in their summation article.
Are you any less dead because a violent, predatory thug stabbed you as opposed to shot you? We don’t think so.
In other news this weekend, a man who was held for almost two years on a murder charge was released two weeks ago by prosecutors, only to be caught near a homicide scene this weekend – (police say) with a gun and some ecstasy.

Chicago (Tribune) – Exactly 14 days after his murder case was dismissed, a South Side man was arrested after running from Chicago police and dropping a handgun, prosecutors said Saturday.
Tahari R. Wilson, who had been charged with murder in 2012, was freed on April 11. But on Friday, police said, officers patrolling near the scene of a recent homicide approached Wilson for a field interview close to his Gresham neighborhood home.
…Officers recovered a .45-caliber gun loaded with seven live rounds nearby and found one pill, suspected to be ecstasy, in his pocket, records show.
Wilson, who police say is an admitted gang member, was ordered held Saturday on $70,000 bail. He faces felony charges of unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
Concealed carry licenses can’t be issued quickly enough for Cook County residents.
Meanwhile, there’s still plenty in Chicago worshiping the false god of gun control.
In an epic moment of irony, one woman learned the hard way how counter-productive Chicago’s failed strict gun control policies remain.
Chicago (Tribune) – Leonore Draper was minutes away from entering her West Pullman home after an anti-violence charity event she attended Friday night when she was shot and killed.
Police found Draper, 32, shot in the chest and arm in a parked car near her home in the 11600 block of South Laflin Street in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side at about 10:35 p.m., about 30 minutes after the fundraiser she went to was over. She was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 12:32 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
“The irony behind her getting shot… is beyond me,” said Fallon Barrett, 33, who has been close friends with Draper since high school. “I feel like I’m in this really bad dream that I wanna wake up from.”
