Hi. My name is John and I’m a gun-a-holic.
You might be a gun-a-holic too.
I’ve shot lots of guns in my time, big and small. Pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns – everything from BB-guns to black powder.
But one thing I’ve got precious little time on is full auto.
Yes, Eunice, I’m talking genuine machine guns.
Full auto experiences are rare as can be in Illinois where civilian ownership of full-auto is effectively non-existent. If I want to shoot full-auto, I need to rent time on one out West or visit friends in Texas.
Until now.
On Friday, February 13th and Saturday, February 14th, Darnall’s Gun Works and Ranges in Bloomington, IL will be breaking out some full auto sub guns for interested parties to shoot.
Yes, there’s a fee, but for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to shoot a full auto without a plane ticket out West. It covers the gun and a box of ammo, range rental, target and a t-shirt. If you decide you liked your experience enough to do it again, they’ll also knock an additional $10 off the next rental.
Fair disclosure: They’re not paying for this announcement and I’m posting it as a service to our Guns Save Life members and friends to let them know about this unique, and very rare opportunity to shoot some historical classics.
Here’s the list:
Model 1921/28 Thompson (the gun made famous by the FBI and Al Capone)
M1 Thompson
Uzi
M3 “Grease Gun”
HK MP-5
HK MP-5S (Yes, they have a suppressed MP5 for rent!)
German MP40 Schmeisser (pictured at top of page)
Beretta 12
PPSH-41 (Russian subgun from WWII)
Smith & Wesson M76
H&R M50
Update:
John what is the total cost to shoot one
Updated with the prices.
How is this even possible in this gun friendly state??
So just how much does one get to shoot for that price?
PP: Rentals are pretty much commonplace out west. I’m pretty sure they aren’t going to risk running afoul of laws and losing their business.
KK: 50 rounds
