You better behave in Utah.

Because if you kill innocents in that state, the state will kill you back, as it should be.

Putting criminal animals down by firing squad was approved by the Utah State Senate as an alternative to the hot shot injection should the lethal injection drugs become unavailable.

The governor hasn’t said if he’ll sign the bill into law, but he has allowed firing squad executions approved under a previous law to be carried out.

Lawmakers have passed a bill that would make Utah the only state to allow firing squads for carrying out a death penalty if there is a shortage of execution drugs.

The passage of the bill by the state Senate on Tuesday comes as states struggle to obtain lethal injection drugs amid a nationwide shortage.

…Whether Ray’s proposal will become law in the conservative Western state is unclear: Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, a Republican, won’t say if he’ll sign the measure. His spokesman, Marty Carpenter, did issue a statement this week acknowledging that the method would give Utah a legitimate backup method if execution drugs are unavailable.

Hanging the condemned by a tree out back would be a lot more cost effective and a lot less work.

Wood chippers are a nice alternative as well, but a little messy.

  1. Unrelated, but I figure this comment is most likely to be seen here.

What’s the penalty for carrying concealed in places with the no gun sign like ACE Hardware or some chain restaurant? Is it simply a matter of “sir, please leave?”

How about the Metra? Other than Federal buildings and schools, where else is it felonious?

  2. There are serious penalties for violations. The first offense is a Class B misdemeanor, which has a maximum penalty of 180 days in jail and a $2,500 fine. A second violation is a Class A misdemeanor, which could result in up to a year in jail, a $2,500 fine and a six-month suspension of the concealed carry license. A three-time offender could get the same jail sentence, the same fine and a permanent revocation of the concealed carry license.

  3. Bang Bang: I don’t think you’re going to get the firing squad for carrying in a prohibited location. Not unless Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and Dan Kotowski gets their way.

  4. On the other hand, concealed is concealed.

I have found myself in a “gun free” posted business without thinking about it beforehand and didn’t realize until a second or third time visiting the business (bar that serves food), however I don’t consume alcoholic beverages any more for health reasons, so have not worried too much other than watching more carefully since then.I’m an officer in the Men’s Auxillory at the VFW and carried in there a few times before realizing they were posted “no gun”, too because of serving alcohol. Easy mistake if you are used to carrying everywhere, but it would be more obvious if you get to the door, see the NoGun sign and turn around and go back to your vehicle, ya think?

  5. How about just taking the thugs to the local shooting range and allowing the citizens to carry out the sentence?

    1. LOL. “Reactive Targets”.

Cleaning up the goo afterwards would be… unpleasant. Perhaps take the “remains” to a hog farm?

      Sam

  6. Hopefully Utah has back up plans in case the ammunition has been banned by Obamama’s BATF,…… how about flamethrowers.
