A batch of Taurus Curves, affectionately named the Taurus Turd here at Guns Save Life late last year, have been recalled by Taurus USA.

Why?

Taurus forgot to stamp the barrels on some guns with the caliber (.380 Auto in case you’re wondering).

Not a function issue and probably not a safety issue for those with intelligence quotients a little higher than room temperature, but nevertheless, they are wanting them back.

From Taurus USA:

We recently discovered that a batch of the new Curve™ pistols left our facility without the caliber (.380 Auto) prominently displayed. We are requesting that these firearms are returned to us for proper marking. There are no quality or safety issues with these firearms. The marking error has been corrected and we are currently producing and shipping Curves to meet the significant demand for this product.

We have been in contact with our dealers, distributors and retailers and are in the process of getting the products they had in stock sent back to us. Given the excitement surrounding the Curve, many firearms have already been purchased by consumers. Our Customer Care team is ready to expedite the return and marking process and can be reached at 1.800.327.3776 by selecting Option 1 for Customer Care and then pressing 8 for priority service. More information and directions on how to return a firearm for marking are also available at www.taurususa.com/curvereturn.
We are grateful for all of the support for this exciting, new and different product. We take quality and meeting our customers’ needs very seriously and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our Taurus® fans.

  1. It says “significant demand” and “many firearms”, for some obscure reason, they omitted “turd”.

  2. A gun manufacturing plant forgot to stamp the caliber on the barrel?

Clearly, they are not using 6 sigma quality control techniques to manufacture this turd…

  3. Well call it what you like, after all this is your website John but it’s not that bad of product IMO. One guy ran over 800 rounds through it with only one FTF and thought that was an issue with the shell. I like Taraus thinking outside the box myself. No it isn’t a weapon like a 1911 etc but it wasn’t designed to be. It basically has many of the guts of their TCP 380 which I personally own. My TCP has been golden one of the very best triggers out of the box & I have never had a FTF in over 1000 rounds of mixed amno. Again my TCP doesn’t replace my 45 XDs for my daily carry but it’s sure better than nothing when the 45 can’t be carried.
