Chicago is seeing similar patterns of sharply rising violent crime this year, like many other cities across America.  The Obama regime’s pattern of attacking local police while martyring street criminals has led to police pulling back from aggressive law enforcement and bad guys becoming more brazen.

Much of the violence is scumbag on scumbag…  people who should have been in prison long ago, who are instead out on the street attacking fellow members of America’s criminal class.

But not all.  Not by a long shot.

In Chicago, residents of neighborhoods that were considered to be fairly tame and orderly have been seeing sudden, sharp rises in violent crime.  Homicides tripling and shootings jumping sharply – doubling or more from last year.

Chicago’s beat cops are horribly short-staffed, forced to do more with fewer cops.  Instead of hiring more cops, the Murder City USA Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s failed administration spends scores of millions on police overtime, and robs the “safe” neighborhoods of their cops, sending them to crime-infested hellholes to keep violence from boiling over so badly that the media can’t help but notice.

Days were upwards of a dozen people being murdered in criminal violence are a terrible public embarrassment not easily covered up by Rahm.

Today, the smarter members of the criminal element have figured out they can take public transportation to the “nicer” parts of town, which are almost devoid of police presence thanks to the “redeployment” of cops.  In this nicer neighborhoods, these thugs can ply their “trade” with relative impunity – and with much better hauls.

Residents of these formerly “safe” (or so they believed) places are unhappy campers and understandably so.

Perhaps instead of (or in addition to) complaining that the city isn’t keeping them same, they should take at least some responsibility for their own safety and security beyond double-locking their front doors.  Suggestion:  Spend a few hundred bucks on a shotgun and maybe a handgun as well.

Nothing changes the demeanor of a hardened thug quite like the muzzle of a shotgun pointed at their chest at close range.  If the bad guys aren’t smart enough to understand what that means, then a load of buckshot will provide all the correctional therapy necessary to eliminate any chance of recidivism.

Violence touching unlikely communities in Chicago

Chicago  (Tribune) – Diane Limas says the sound of gunfire has become so common outside her house in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood that she’s frequently calling police to complain.

With increasing gang problems to blame, she even makes sure that her adult brother whom she cares for doesn’t leave the home dressed in colors that might draw the wrath of gangbangers.

“I double-lock my doors,” she said last week. “I tell my brother to stay away from the windows. I’m calling the police every week.”

As summer draws to an unofficial close on Labor Day, the rise in violence plaguing Chicago this year has even spread to unlikely communities such as Albany Park, a laid-back, diverse working-class neighborhood made up of handsome brick bungalows and two-flats.

Through Sept. 3, homicides have jumped to nine in the Albany Park police district, up from just two in the year-earlier period, according to data from the Police Department. Shooting incidents have more than doubled to 23 from nine in the district, which includes the Irving Park and Ravenswood Manor neighborhoods on the city’s Northwest Side.

In addition, the South Loop’s Central police district didn’t record a single homicide at this point last year but has seen three so far this year. Even in the Town Hall police district, which includes the Uptown, Lakeview, Wrigleyville and Lincoln Square neighborhoods, the number of homicides tripled…

A bloody end to the summer pushed the rise in homicides to 23 percent by Thursday, up from a 14 percent increase as of June 1. On Wednesday alone, eight people were shot to death in homicides, the most in a single day in Chicago in more than 12 years.

For a second consecutive year, shooting incidents are on the rise, to 1,625 so far this year, up more than 17 percent from 1,384 a year earlier.

Experts say it is difficult to explain what is behind the surge in homicides and shootings in Chicago, but major cities across the country are struggling with similar problems, if not worse. Milwaukee, in particular, has seen homicides soar to 106, up 80 percent from 59 a year earlier, a police department spokesman said Friday. Homicides have risen by about 60 percent in St. Louis.

In Chicago, gang conflicts have long been fueling much of the gun violence. Police blame battles over turf and reputation for much of the bloodshed.

That’s right:  Chicago’s violence has spread from the ghetto slums into the more “upscale” neighborhoods.

Nobody is safe in Chicago.  You can’t leave your windows open or go for a walk in complete safety after dark.  You can’t even go for a walk in complete safety during the day in much of the city.

Criminal violence can happen anytime, anywhere in Chicago.
