Illinois' capital city Springfield sent their communications team to the HOOAH Deer Hunt for Heroes event at the SCHEELS store on Tuesday, November 1st. The store outfitted the nine wounded warriors participating in this year's Pheasant and Deer Hunt event, providing everything needed for the nearly week-long event. The HOOAH Program helps wounded servicemen to reacclimate themselves to the civilian world through comaraderie-building outdoor activities. The entire outing is done at no charge to the servicemen.
Guns Save Life is a proud sponsor of the all-volunteer HOOAH Deer Hunt for Heroes program.
Here's the video from the Springfield Mayor's office.
Here are some additional photos…
The soldiers got a warm welcome from the event leaders.
The Events Coordinator from SCHEELS, Amy Beadle (back to camera, left) works very closely with Tricia Gale (right) to make the event go off without a hitch.
Some of the motorcade come in and thank the servicemen for their service.
Excellent show of support by all involved. A big THANKS from me and my family.
The Springfield Scheels has been very good to our community. Their treatment of these HOOAH vets is but the latest example. I happily take my business there and encourage others to do so as well.
I saw the short video about this at the GSL meeting Tue. John, if there's a link to the video, please post it. Compliments to Sheels and all the volunteers, especially your favorite award-winning volunteer!
OOps, now that I'm off the dumb phone, I see the video.
