(Guns Save Life) – Barack Obama’s home at 5046 S Greenwood Ave, Chicago, pictured above, has become the hub of a heavily guarded neighborhood.
There is a constant, heavy police presence. Many neighbors complain of intrusive searches and ID checks from Chicago police and U.S. Secret Service agents.
It’s arguably one of the most secure neighborhoods in America thanks to all of the police presence.
So, it is particular embarrassing to Mayor Rahm Emanuel that Chicago, despite its despotic gun control, can’t keep people from getting shot within a block or two of Obama’s house!
Another Person Shot Near Obama’s Chicago Home
CHICAGO (CBS) – A teenage boy was shot about a block from President Obama’s home, in the second such incident in the past week.
The 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg and buttock in the 5000 block of South Woodlawn Avenue about 4:20 a.m., police said.
The shooting scene is about a block east of the heavily guarded street where the Obamas have a home in the Kenwood neighborhood.
He was taken in “stable” condition to an unidentified hospital, according to police.
Last weekend, another shooting a few blocks from President Barack Obama’s Chicago home turned out to be fatal.
When was the last time you heard about people getting shot near George W. Bush’s ranch in Texas where Texas residents enjoy one of the better right-to-carry laws in the nation and gun ownership is well above average?
Compare Texas’ welcoming attitudes about gun ownership and right-to-carry to Illinois, the last state in the Union without right-to-carry and where only about one in ten legal residents has a Firearm Owner’s ID card which entitles them to exercise their Second Amendment rights at a cost of $10 for 10 years.
Compare Texas, where the governor jogs by himself some days and dispatches threatening animals with his personal carry gun with Illinois where impeached and convicted (extremely anti-gun) Democrat Governor Rod Blagojevich would take as many as eight protective agents with him when he frequented <ahem> gentleman’s clubs when he was governor. (With a couple of more in the car outside.)
So when we hear about people getting shot on consecutive weekends within a slingshot’s rock-throw from Obama’s fortified residence, it further reinforces Guns Save Life’s position (and ISRA’s position as well) that CHICAGO ISN’T SAFE and members of our respective families should avoid travel to Chicago.
There’s nothing in Chicago worth dying for on vacation or business!
Oh yeah, how intense is the security around President Obama’s home?
…Before the president’s arrival, residents of the South Side streets around his house watched security descend. Authorities blocked off streets and sidewalks with metal and concrete barriers, diverted cars and buses, and snooped around buildings and alleys with bomb-sniffing dogs.
By 3:30 p.m., no one could enter Woodlawn Avenue between Hyde Park Boulevard and Ellis Avenue without a picture ID proving they belonged in the area. Longtime residents were familiar with the routine, as well as the first rule of survival: Get home early and don’t come out until he’s gone.
“It’s a big inconvenience,” said Dominic Lendabarker, 29, who parked his car 10 blocks away and walked to his apartment a few yards from the president’s house. “I had to cancel the delivery of my washer and dryer today. I tried to plan ahead and get all my shopping done early.”…
