Sarah Scherer was on fire at the Ohio State Invitational shoot, shooting a one shy of perfect score in the air rifle and almost as well with the smallbore rifle, setting an aggregate score record of 1195.
We at Guns Save Life salute Sarah for a fine job well done and wish her the best in her continued endeavors.
From the TCU Horned Frogs [Editor: We didn’t pick the school mascot name] Athletic Website:
Sarah Scherer continued her dominance of the NCAA field as she once again established an NCAA record with an aggregate score of 1,195 (599 in air rifle and 596 smallbore). She narrowly missed a perfect score in air rifle, missing just one shot in her first round of 10. She closed out her session with five straight perfect strings of 100. In smallbore, she shot a perfect 200 in the prone position, a 198 standing and 198 kneeling.
Not only was Scherer shooting very well, but the entire TCU team set new records as well (from the same article):
COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a season that has already seen multiple broken records, the TCU Rifle team continues to reach new heights each week. In a four-team invitational hosted by Ohio State, the Horned Frogs dominated the field with a school-record aggregate of 4,708.
In setting the new school record, the Frogs also established a new standard in smallbore as they shot a 2,348 in the discipline. TCU was the lone school to fire better than a 2,300 in smallbore at the match. The Frogs faced stiffer competition in air rifle, but walked away with a 14-point victory over Nebraska, shooting a team score of 2,360.
Scherer also shot at the Olympics where she finished 7th in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle.
H/t The Truth About Guns.
She’s a shining example of a true red-blooded American woman. All the best to her in her future endeavors.
