Anyway, the AFT has proclaimed that there should be absolutely NO guns in schools.
(Breitbart) – The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) has their own solution for preventing tragedies like the Newtown massacre from happening again: no firearms in schools whatsoever.
This is not a joke; they actually believe that the next time some deranged, evil psychopath shows up at your child’s school, the best policy is to leave the school utterly defenseless.
After Michigan state senators voted last week that citizens who have concealed carry permits can bring them when they visit schools, leftist national AFT president Randi Weingarten joined the president of its Michigan chapter, David Hecker, in stating:
Firearms have absolutely no place in our schools—the Dec. 14, 2012, tragic massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., is a chilling and heartbreaking reminder of this. Permitting firearms in schools—visible or concealed—enables a dangerous set of circumstances that can result in similar tragic outcomes. We should be doing everything we can to reduce the possibility of any gunfire in schools, and concentrate on ways to keep all guns off school property and ensure the safety of children and school employees.

After what has happened time and again with the only protection available being a sign on the door stating “gun free zone” you would think that the AFT would be demanding armed protection for our children. Are they that short sited to think that the sign will work next time? This is unbelievable

THEN REPEAL THE GUN FREE SCHOOL ZONE ACT, and give teachers (but not if they belong to this union), administrators, janitors, school staff, parents, and ALL law-abiding citizens the tools AND ability to prevent/mitigate ruthless, cowardly, animalistic actions by the creatures that could giving a flying f*ck about your “gun control” laws.

I’m not surprised this sort of idiocy comes from an educationalist, as they’ve been making a mess of what they profess to do for more than half a century:

I’m a 20 year member of the NJEA. I’m also an NRA certified pistol instructor. I’m really not happy doing lock down drills that make us all huddle in a corner making us an easy target. We are also told not to fight back. The administration installed cameras everywhere. What good are they except to document the act. The security guards are retired teachers who couldn’t run 20 yards without having a heart attack. I hate the fact that the only tool to protect my students from a madman is not allowed near a school in New Jersey. I train many more times a year with my firearm than any police department requires. Once a month rather than twice a year! And if you trust me with your children already what’s the problem with defending them with my life? The front door is locked but the driveway gate is open and unattended. I see people on campus every day I do not recognize. I just shake my head and keep my classroom doors locked all the time. As a rule you don’t take a door to a gun fight.
