Need?  We need not justify.

When asked what I do for a living I reply: I teach people how to shoot people. I teach people how to shoot people because some people need to be shot – and they need to be shot NOW.

I have found that in the long run sugarcoating reality rarely produces good results. Yes, it might make some people “feel” better, but feelings and reality are often polar opposites. Pretending something is what it is not only postpones judgment day, and the longer it’s ignored, the higher the price.

Twenty-six years ago I began my involvement with “gun rights”.  I had a good grasp on what Article II of the Bill of Rights was about then, and my thoughts haven’t changed since. Article II is about the individual’s ability to shoot tyrants – plain and simple.

It has nothing to do with hunting, collecting or competition. And tyranny, as I define it, may appear in the form of a rapist in the alley, a mob during civil unrest, an invading military, or one’s own government.

I personally own no “sporting arms.” I own and train with auto-loading, magazine fed weapons; rifles and pistols which are designed to get hot and function during conflict. Most are black and “scary looking”, and that suits me just fine – I’m not in the rainbows and unicorns business, I’m in the force business.

What I, and thousands of other instructors around the country do, is provide the necessary skills that Americans need to deploy firearms in tyranny’s direction. We don’t teach people how to play games or take quail; we teach people how to effectively launch bullets into the bodies of tyrants.

And to such tyrants, my advice is this:  If you don’t want to find yourself on the business end of my rifle, then behave yourself.

As long as there is a free exchange of goods and services, a system of justice, a redress of grievances and I’m free to walk unmolested, there will be no problem. If not, expect trouble.

Joe Biden and Diane Feinstein may pretend that they don’t understand such things, but they do. They understand perfectly what AR15’s are for, and that’s exactly why their bodyguards have them. You see, like most criminals, they aren’t interested in a fight. They came about their power the old fashioned way, they lied, cheated and stole their way to the point where they are protected by men with guns at taxpayer expense. The notion of armed peasants in “their kingdom” scares the living hell out of them. It interferes with their plan.

They know they are up to no good, and they know that someday the population will be on to them – If not them specifically, then some future generation of socialist/fascist tyrants who worship them as gods. They also understand that a willing population armed with semi-automatic battle rifles can only be pushed so far. That they work so hard to disarm us should be a clue to anyone paying attention.

I understand and accept the responsibility of liberty. To be free, one must be willing to fight for it…not just on civic level (letter writing, voting, jury duty, etc…), but all the way up to the use of physical force. In my opinion, it is the right, responsibility and duty of every able free person, to own, train with, and be willing to use, arms. Real arms – not your great uncle’s duck gun – but weapons of war. It is far past time for us to take control of the debate. We need to stop making excuses for why we own guns, and we need to stop apologizing for our personal liberty. We are not subjects. We are not serfs.

We are not slaves.

Some will never understand that, and so be it. However, there are millions who have never considered such things, and they never will if we continue to pretend that our guns have any other use than to force the expiration of tyranny.

We are free people, armed to the teeth – And we should not be interested in living any other way!

Have no shame about it.

  1. Tyranny: 1. arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power; despotic abuse of authority. Synonyms: despotism, absolutism, dictatorship.
Criminals ARE tyrants. They exercise arbitrary and unrestrained power; they are not restrained by laws, which they ignore. They engage in despotic abuse of authority. What gives them that authority? Many things; they don’t care what others say about them, they are willing to use force when it is not justified; they are willing to employ weapons against the weaponless. Nice piece, Mr. Sharpe!

    1. Well said, Frank. Perfectly expressed. Perfectly understood. Funny how simple the truth is. Thank you and good luck.

    2. So well put, I must add this An uneducated pleasant farmer from country of Mexico, who led an Army of pleasants to fight for their right to land. said this: “Never give up your land or your guns, but if you should give up something give up your land but never your guns” Emiliano Zapata, Mexican Revolution.

  2. “Need” is certainly beside the point. Rosa Parks didn’t “need” to sit in the front of the bus but she did her part and so do we.

  3. thank you mr sharp for a great article. its time for all americans to stand up and fight for our freedoms and get rid of these people that
think they own us.we will fight whatever way it takes to get back our
    county and freedom.

  4. if things are allowed to continue on their present path, whether we want to acknowledge it or not, we will soon be forced to make a simple choice: submit, or fight. A lot of people scoff at that, and a lot of others spend enormous amounts of ink and energy trying to pretend it isn’t true. I took an oath a long time ago to “protect and defend….” and nobody ever released me from that promise. My choice was made at that time. The second amendment is brilliant in its’ simplicity, and it means what it very clearly says. For my part, it always will, until I say different.

  5. Well said Mr Sharpe. I for one find your honesty and straight to the point style very refreshing. Thanks for lifting the spirits of a fellow American.

  6. Just saying what everyone else is saying, great job Frank!!!!! Who knows maybe someone will pick this up and it will go national!!!! We could only hope. BTW…..you need to come to the GSL meeting in Pontiac! I think it might be closer than Rantoul. Thanks again.

    1. Thank you!

Keep me posted on the meeting times – if I’m not on the road and available, I’d be honored to attend!

    2. Just saw this. Pontiac is always the 1st Tuesday of the month at the VFW. Give JB a call/email and he can send you mine. THANKS

  7. Frank, you did well on this issue. History has proven that tyranny will always show its ugly head, but eventually tyranny is always defeated.

There’s a book out about decent Americans who believe in the 2nd Amendment (and the U.S. Constitution) who take a stand against federal tyranny & ends up starting the 2nd American Revolution. It’s provocative so I recommend it ( A TIME TO STAND by Oliver ). I like it cause it also has real characters in it. It’s a must read for showing there are still heroes made from common people.

I understand Homeland Security bought another 45 million rounds of hollow points. They must be preparing for something soon. Apparently they know something we don’t.

    1. OR – Thanks for your kind comments and the book recommendation.

I’m not sure I’m all that worried about the DHS ammo buy. #1, if you do the math on the agent to training ratio, it come out to enough for a years worth of range time. DHS mandates the qualify with their duty ammo.
#2, if they really think they are going to take on the American public with 40-caliber pistols, more power to ’em. We could only hope a tyrannical government would be that stupid.

    2. Not 40 cal pistols but maybe 40 cal MP5’s or some other new SMG. But even with just that…good luck. I believe it will be teams rocking 40cal SMG’s and over watched with snipers sporting 300 WinMag or 308 long guns. Still not enough but will be effective in the urban areas.

    3. Yeah they bought those rounds to go along with the 1.6 billion they already have and the 2,717 MRAP’s they bought. A MRAP is a Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicle that were purchased by DHS. Personally I did not know we were experiencing any IED’s here in the U.S. But when you have an A.G. who will not say the Constitution does prohibit the use of drone’s on American citizens within the borders of the U.S. you will probably need those bullets and MRAP’s for something. Excellent article and I only wish someone would read that to the next group of moron’s who hold a senate hearing to tell us why we shouldn’t have “defensive weapons”, or known as assault weapons to the socialist.
      Semper Fi

    4. Just like when they build freeways between cities, cars fill them; If you bring MRAP’s to American streets as a tyrannical intimidation move, IED’s and EFP’s will start detonating near and at them. Shaped charge parachute hand grenades will become the fashion. Sinaloa cartel will switch products and bring us weapons of war cheaper than duck guns. Almost guaranteed.

The solution is to de-mil them by surplussing them to US Citizens with priority to people showing training records of driving them professionally. MRAP can probably do a great job towing a boat or travel trailer.

Police and security agencies should be prohibited from having vehicles or arms not generally available to the public.

Save the greenback, Kill the Bank (FRB, 3rd “bank” of the United States) and banks that control it. Issue US Notes.

      Cheers.

    5. DHS did NOT buy 2,700+ MRAPs… if you backtrack to the source article the author even writes this (well, it’s a bit buried under all the misdirection, but it’s there…).

Find the contract award, the award announcement from Navistar, etc. The contract is to refit/retrofit military MRAPs – a contract that was awarded in 2011 with work to begin in Jan, 2012…..

DHS has had their MRAPs (maybe max of 60 or so) since around 2008 or so. Most of the photos posted in the source article are from a parade in 2009. The public outreach video is from May, 2012 if I remember right.

So no, the contract award for retrofitting 2,700 MRAPs and the MRAPs already in DHS possession have NOTHING to do with one another.

Oh, and I admit MRAPs might not be the best rescue vehicle for law enforcement (Lenco Bear/Bearcat fits the bill much better) but when the military offers to give you something for $free.99, you can’t argue with that price.

  8. That is exactly what need to be said by Wayne La Pierre when he was asked the dreadful “tyranny” question during the congressional inquisition. He balked. Too bad it wasn’t you being asked!

  9. In most cases, the 2nd amendment is quoted, the IL constitution also is clear about our rights and the definition of “Militia”:

    ARTICLE I BILL OF RIGHTS
SECTION 22. RIGHT TO ARMS Subject only to the police power, the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

    ARTICLE XII MILITIA
SECTION 1. MEMBERSHIP The State militia consists of all able-bodied persons residing in the State except those exempted by law.

  10. Well said, sir! I like plain, no holds barred, no reading between the lines, COMMON SENSE!!!

  11. This quote says it all….especially the last sentence.

“The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed – where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.” – Judge Alex Kozinski, dissenting, Silveira v. Lockyer,

Also, look up the Battle of Athens if you don’t know about it already.

  12. Excellent succinct piece, Frank, very well stated!
Our job as Patriots is to wake the sheeple up, and we have our work cut out for us.

  13. Great column, directly on target. Stop apologizing. Also, we should stop focusing on the argument down in the weeds over rare murder sprees by insane individuals. Anytime liberals get us to argue down there, we lose, because the sheeple simply associate guns with murder sprees when they hear that debate. Instead, ask liberals why they want to set us up for genocide? Take it right to the big issue, gun control and democide. Ask them if they are a “useful idiot” who sincerely believes that disarmament will lead to “public safety,” or if they are secret Stalinists who know full well the intended outcome. Remind them that while deraged individuals may kill a dozen or two, tyrants kill by the millions, but only after disarming their people in the name of “public safety.” Ask them if the Armenians, Jews, Russians and all the others were treated better, or worse, after they were disarmed in the name of “public safety.” Make liberals defend to you why they do not plan a genocide. Elevate the debate from tens of victims to the tens of MILLIONS of victims that follow disarmament. Also, may I recommend a 5 minute youtube video that I recently co-produced, called “Democide: Socialism, Tyranny, Guns and Freedom.”

  14. Great article, we are of the same mind on this. Had the liberal neighbors over, who asked about my firearms. Told them they are here for two reasons. 1: I enjoy shooting them, and 2: For the violent overthrow of the US government. Out the door went all the ‘hunting’ arguments, and the ‘you don’t need that’ BS.

Like you said, sugarcoating it does no one any favors.

  15. Mr. Sharpe, your words are brilliant. You are a true American. It is for this reason that you must be careful and be aware of your surroundings at all times. Obama has his teams out, taking down individuals who are gun enthusiasts such as Ratliff, Noveske, Kyle, etc.. Watch your back and be safe! http://www.nachumlist.com/deadpool.htm

    1. Thanks for the concern, but I’m not convinced any of those men we’re killed by anything other than how reported. And with a whole 20, or so, comments to my article here on GSL, I highly doubt I’m on anyone’s immediate threat list, lol

  16. I have found a brother–my thoughts (and actions) precisely. Keep up the fight. We who are armed to the teeth and know how to use our weapons will be “An claiomh de na daoine” (The sword of the people).

  17. I can’t remember seeing or reading the case for RKBA more concisely or better stated…

And we all need to get this idea thru our heads, and right now…

Thank you, and well done Mr. Sharpe…

  18. Sir; On the money,I agree with you and most everyone here on board with you. What I truly believe will be the issue will be our ability to organize, and not feel that we are isolated and fighting a battle on our own.
Before anything goes down heavy, disarming is mandatory, and they will cut our ability to communicate with each other.People must have a plan,THEY DO!
Thank you God Bless A Paitriot for Life

  19. Sir, Appreciated your views and could not agree more, my question is
to our communities of Americans ~ When are we going to wake up and
stop putting these criminals into leadership positions and start
having our Great Nation led by True Hearted Decent folks similar
to the ones that started it all ~ You have to believe they still
exist. Thanks and God Bless !!

    1. That will never happen as long as we expect to be “led.”

America was founded by rugged individuals who weren’t interested in being told how to live.

I, personally, don’t need a “leader” in my life. I might need to hire some people to do some things for me that I don’t have time for, but “leading me” is not one of them.

Elected officials work for us. They are there to do a job, and that job is not to play parent or savior. It’s to protect the borders, issue currancy, establish courts and, in general, defend the rights of their employers.

So, perhaps it’s all a matter of mindset. Perhaps all that really needs to happen is individuals embracing their individuality and going boldy forward with life.
