Have you made plans to attend Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day, Wednesday March 6th yet?  Do it.

Bring your family.

Bring a friend or three.

This is *really* important.

And, as Marsha Mohr will tell you, bring the women in your life.

I am not able to go to the Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day (IGOLD) in Springfield this year, so I need you to go in my place.

Represent me as I have represented you.

Take the day off, take your friends and family, and go to Springfield.

Show the government here in Illinois that you are willing to take a day off because your rights are that important.

Take your family and if the media asks why you are there, gather them together and say “So I can protect the most important people on Earth!”

One day of your time is all I ask, to guarantee your rights, and the rights of others like you are protected.

Last year we had over 7000 people there, the media reported it as over 1500. While technically true, this seems just a bit biased.

We need over 10,000 there this year to make the legislature and media understand we will not take the suppression and denial of our rights lightly.  Furthermore, we get highly irritable when there’s talk of taking our rights and freedoms away.

Marsha also noted at the recent Guns Save Life meeting that politicians and media seem a lot more inclined to listen to women than men.  So bring the women in your life.

Guns Save Life’s buses are almost full.  We have probably a dozen or so additional seats remaining on buses from Danville / Urbana / Decatur.  If you want one, email John Naese at johnnaese at comcast.net.

Not sure on Pontiac, but you can email John Gahm at jgahm at mchsi.com.

Note:  We’re going to over-book the buses by at least 15% for those who have not paid for their seats, so get there early.  (Last year we had almost two dozen empty seats of folks who didn’t show up after signing up for seats.  We’re going to have full buses this year!)

Our goal this year is to have 10,000 Illinois gun owners in Springfield and 15,000 wouldn’t be a surprise, given the state of affairs in Illinois.

Come out and join 10,000+ of your closest friends.  It is a great time!

Monday morning:  Make those calls!

As we wrote earlier:

Put your war paint on, ladies and gentleman!  It’s time to get your phone charged up and ready to rumble.

Beginning Monday morning, we want you to call Springfield and tell your State Representative to support ONLY the Guns Save Life and NRA-backed House Bill 997.  Call them early and often.  Call your local district office as well as the office in Springfield.

If you want to begin calling tomorrow, Saturday, have at it.

On Tuesday, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan is going to try use a seldom-used legislative procedure called the “Weekly Order of Business” to suspend normal House business and, in this case, bring a carry bill to the floor of the House for consideration, skipping the normal processes.

It would seem that the closed-door legislative meeting of House Democrats put the fear of God in gun control advocates and they believe they need to act sooner rather than later to keep you and I from carrying our fully loaded Glocks with spare magazines (and why not a spare gun while you’re at it) into the Statehouse come June 9th, 2013.

That’s the date when the stay suspending the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals Moore v Madigan decision striking down Illinois’ prohibition on carry outside of the home expires.

Madigan plans to consider House Bill 1155 and amendments to HB1155 as the sole order of business beginning Tuesday.

We’ll save you time looking up HB1155.  It’s a shell bill at this point.  This is one of those things where they will introduce it at the last minute – hopefully not at 3a.m. as was the case with the anti-gun bills passed in New Jersey in the last couple of days.

Here’s a link to getting the contact info for your representative.

  1. We’re down to five open spots on the Danville, Urbana, and Decatur busses.

Plan on going to IGOLD, even if you can’t get a bus seat.

It’s worth your time, effort, and gas money. Please attend.

  2. This action shows that there is no good faith partner to negotiate with
It demonstrates why NO legislation should be supported whatsoever.

Now is the time to stand up instead of bowing down trying to trade some portions of rights for allowance of others. Oppose all legislation until July 4th.
