With decisions come consequences:

MADISON (WKOW) — Police arrested six people believed to be involved in what they’re calling one of the most brutal crimes in recent memory.

Madison police say three men planned a home invasion, but broke into the wrong home on Quincy Avenue on the north side around 6 a.m. on February 23. Police say the suspects were aware it was not the intended home, but they proceeded to violently attack the two victims who had been sleeping. The suspects are accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting the woman who was six months pregnant.

“I can tell you that in my 27-plus years of policing here in Madison, this is probably one of the most disturbing and heinous crimes that I’ve ever seen,” says Interim Chief Randy Gaber.

Three asocial scumbags planned to rob someone they knew and ended up breaking into the wrong house.

In that home was a young couple.  The female half was six months pregnant.

Those three guys raped that pregnant woman for 45 minutes.

45 long minutes.

Three suspects are accused of the break-in: Kristopher Hughes, 20, Michon Thomas, 22, and Eric Bass, 23. They face charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, and six counts each of first degree sexual assault.

This young couple had opted not to have the proven lifesaver of a personal defense firearm in their home readily accessible to them.  Perhaps they didn’t think they needed it, after all they were nice people who didn’t bother others or engage in risky behaviors.  After all, they were a nice, young couple with a child on the way.

Perhaps they were ill-prepared to defend themselves because they thought guns were icky or dangerous, or that only mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging “rednecks” own guns.

In any event, sometimes bad things happen to good people purely by happenstance.

For whatever reason this couple chose not to be able to defend themselves and they paid dearly for that poor decision-making.

Proper planning prevents poor performance and this couple – particularly the male half – failed miserably in making preparations for a potential violent intrusion.

If this couple had a handgun handy or a shotgun under the bed, accessible, and the knowledge, skills and attitudes to use a firearm for self-defense, this story would have certainly ended much differently.

You don’t have to be a helpless victim.

Empower yourself.
Become a gun owner.
Get training.

  1. Does Wisconsin have Capital Punishment? Because I would be all for it in this case.

  2. “This young couple had opted not to have the proven lifesaver of a personal defense firearm in their home readily accessible to them. Perhaps they didn’t think they needed it,”

Where are you getting this info from, or is this simply your opinion+guesswork?

After what these people have been through, I think you are victimizing them all over again by assuming they are anti-gun or did not own a firearm. You cant possibly know that.

Any of us while sleeping are vulnerable, and you have lived in places at some point in time that were poorly secured or accessible. They may be poor or low income and could not afford a gun. They may have a gun and did not have time to access it before 6 youfs were on them, as they slept.
