Rainy days are ahead for Target corporation with their alienation of gun owners today.

Target today announced they’re implementing a risky “no guns” policy, as announced today by the company’s execs.

The leadership team has been weighing a complex issue, and I want to be sure everyone understands our thoughts and ultimate decision.

As you’ve likely seen in the media, there has been a debate about whether guests in communities that permit “open carry” should be allowed to bring firearms into Target stores. Our approach has always been to follow local laws, and of course, we will continue to do so. But starting today we will also respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target – even in communities where it is permitted by law.

In so many words, TARGET stores are asking YOU, the customers, to voluntarily become the unarmed, defenseless target of violent criminals when you shop in their stores.  Without compensation, at that!

Target has chosen politics over its customers’ personal safety.  It’s more symbolism over substance as they promote make-believe safety to make some people “feel” safe instead of allowing card-carrying good guys to carry a means to fight back against violent attack.

Target has already been on Americans’ bad list since the retailer let hackers steal as many as 110,000,000 (that’s one hundred ten MILLION) credit card numbers from customers last year.  What’s worse, they were warned that there was a data breach and Target did NOTHING about it initially.

Is this the sort of retailer you want to trust with your credit card or debit card, much less your family’s safety?

And now they announce to the entire world that good guys with guns are not welcome at their stores?

Of course, bad guys don’t care about signs and store rules.  This announcement is nothing more than a gold-leaf invitation to bad guys to victimize folks at Target stores, where they know they won’t face any good guys with guns.

The bottom line is this:  If Target can’t keep your credit card information safe, why would you think they going to keep you and your family safe?

Through utter ineptitude, negligence and incompetence, they allowed tens of millions of credit cards and customers’ personal information data to be stolen, alienating tens of millions of Americans.   Now they have needlessly alienated tens of millions of gun owners.

Who will the executives at Target alienate next?

If you hold Target stock, the prudent and intelligent investor would be clicking the “sell” button if you haven’t already.

If you continue shopping at Target, you’re foolishly risking you and your family’s safety and well-being for what?  How is that reasonable or prudent?

Here’s a better idea.

Save your Walmart or other competitor’s receipts and mail them to Target’s corporate headquarters.

  1. It sounds like they will not be posting the “NO GUNS” signs, they are just requesting people leave their guns at home.

Without the sign, I can carry if I want to in Illinois.

I will still boycott them to make a point against their anti-gun stance…and I’ll be mailing them LOTS of receipts from their competitors.

    1. I think you hit the nail on the head perfectly wjensen, This is an easy out for Target, they look like they did something to make the commie liberal gun grabbers and criminal coddlers happy while actually doing nothing to lose us freedom lovers. we can still carry but I won’t be shopping at Target anymore since they caved in.

I do feel bad for Target in a way, they never minded if we carry at their stores, got thrust into the mix because of Open Carry Texas and also probably some creepy Occupy people Bloomberg hired to scare everyone. I think they are hoping this all just blows over and I highly doubt they will ask anyone to leave, especially CCW holders. they could have put up official no gun signs but didn’t.

    2. Exactly. SAme thing Starbucks did…say something to appease Brady but without backing it up by covering the legalities. I’ll keep packing concealed into Target until the sign goes up…which I doubt it ever will

  2. They are on the wrong side of the 2nd Amendment with this position they took! I will never shop there again, signs or no signs! I am now a WalMart fan!

  3. “If Target can’t even keep your credit card data safe, why would you trust them to keep you and your family safe?”

Wonderfully clever point, John – wish I’d thought of it.

    Well done!
