There was excitement in the air at the Tuesday, December 9th Guns Save Life meeting in Champaign.
Not only were we drawing for our monthly “gun” (in this case a Barnett Crossbow), but also for the Great Guns VI guns… an FN PS90 and a Keltec KSG Shotgun! And a huge rolling gun case!
Olivia Logue did the honors in front of an audience of nearly 250 of the faithful in attendance.
Up first was the drawing for the monthly gun – the crossbow.
Bob Alkire of Hoopeston won the crossbow. (Editor: I was supposed to win that, for the record.)
We switched out tickets in our fancy ticket stub randomizer (whatever you call that thing in the photo above), and Olivia stuck her arm in once more.
Paul Walker, a first-time attendee from the state of Missouri was the first ticket out. As is our policy, if the winner is present, they get their choice of either gun. (If the winner is not present, he or she receives the “First Prize”.) In this case, Mr. Walker elected to take the KSG shotgun, leaving the pricier of the two guns still available.
Once more, Olivia pulled out a stub.
This time it was Nick Pratt from Peoria, Illinois (who was not present, but was thrilled and then some at the news that he won).
For the first time in three years or more, mail-in ticket purchasers didn’t win at least one of the guns(!).
We also held a card drawing for a huge Winchester gun case donated by the late Paul Vallandigham, one of the predecessor organization to GSL’s founding members. Ron Sparrow had the other half of the winning card.
Congratulations to them all.
