There’s a new active shooter video that’s been produced and released recently. The Truth About Guns says it’s been produced in conjunction with Wal-mart and to be shown to all Walmart employees soon. If so, excellent.
If not, it probably should be.
The content is very good. The video even goes out of its way to let people know they have a right to fight back and survive – absolutely true.
This is the second high-quality “Surviving an active shooter” video. We profiled one created by the LA County Sheriff’s Department not even two months ago. Go watch that one as well.

Some important points:
The actions you take are critical to your survival.
Avoid the attacker.
Deny the attacker access to your area.
Defend yourself.
Hesitation can cost you valuable time you could have used to get away from the threat.
A great training video from Texas State University.
Since 2002, the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT)™ Program at Texas State University has been used to train law enforcement officers across the nation in how to rapidly respond to dangerous active threat situations. Over the years we’ve seen response times shorten and the capabilities of law enforcement increase. As a result of increased public awareness, many citizens have asked what individuals can do protect themselves and reduce the dangers faced during one of these events. Avoid | Deny | Defend™ has been developed as an easy to remember method for individuals to follow. As we’ve seen that hiding and hoping isn’t a very effective strategy.

Good video for sheeple on when you don’t have your heater. Then again, if you don’t bring a gun to a gunfight, hopefully you’re well insured.
We should be showing this in junior high and high schools nation-wide
Good basic stuff.
Have a plan. Have a backup plan. Situational awareness. Nike defense is best. You have a right to defend yourself with deadly force to avoid death or great bodily harm.
The only thing I would add would be armed citizens as first responders.
Lt. Col. Grossman touches on this – there is a vulnerable point early in most terrorist attacks where intervention by an armed citizen could have stopped the attack cold.
