Imagine you paid good money and went to a concealed carry class and it ended a whole lot earlier than you expected.  You didn’t do much of any of the required aspects of the course:  classroom time, gun handling, legal lectures, etc.

You think to yourself, “Hey, that works for me!  The Second Amendment doesn’t say anything about training to bear arms, so I’m good with this.”

Well, while you are correct the Second Amendment’s 27 words say nothing about training to get a carry license.  In fact, you shouldn’t need any license to “bear” arms.

However, in today’s America, life isn’t perfect – especially when you involve politicians.  We either choose to live within today’s modern system and its rules (and work to change them appropriately) or we can ignore the law and face the consequences.

In Ohio, news has broken over nearly 200 concealed carry licensees who had their licenses revoked when authorities learned of students who failed to meet that state’s required training.

One instructor was cutting corners – or lopping off the whole class in some cases – and all of his “graduates” have had their licenses revoked.  All 171 of them.

Ouch.

The story brings back memories of James Andel’s “Security Guard College” classes here in Illinois at the Bolingbrook Bass Pro store shortly after Illinois implemented our new Firearms Concealed Carry Act in 2013.  In Andel’s case, 327 applicants had their submissions denied because of “worthless” training.

In Andel’s case, he called us within the last three months or so and demanded we take down our stories about his escapades.  Why?  He’s wanting to restore his good name.  We hope he’s not trying to teach CCW classes.

Fox8 has the story.

The video is below.

  1. I agree with Mr. Beam.

Especially if they didn’t even attend *any* class.

The world needs fewer fly-by-night, $$-seeking hacks. Unfortunately, when it comes to state-mandated CCW, it’s too easy to be a hack and not to do it right and well.

Last time I checked, it’s not that hard to do it right.
