Mother Jones, which enjoys significant funding from George Soros, published a laughable story in recent days, claiming that gun free zones aren’t disarmed victim zones after all. They go on to make all sorts of wild claims about the well documented plentiful use of firearms by the innocent to thwart criminals. Mother Jones cites data almost exclusively from “studies” done by the non-academic Violence Policy Center.
Why not?

In the aftermath of the massacre at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, gun rights activists and their allies in the conservative media are once again blaming “gun-free zones,” arguing that an armed citizen could have otherwise been at the church to stop the attack. As Mother Jones has previously reported, there has never been any evidence that mass shooters picked their targets based on gun regulations; to the contrary, data from scores of cases shows perpetrators had other specific motivations for where they attacked, including racial hatred, as is strongly suspected to be the case in Charleston. The idea that armed citizens stop crimes in the United States has also been wildly exaggerated by the gun lobby, as a new study reaffirms.

If it weren’t for rich leftists, the left in America would be as financially bankrupt as they are factually, and the professional leftists would either have to get on the public dole or get a real job.

Ian York I don’t see the connection with gun-free zones perhaps because the argument is fallacious. I believe in strict gun regulations. Gun owners should be screened, licensed, and insured. One should undergo extensive and ongoing psychological monitoring in order to get or renew a gun license. Selling guns to someone unlicensed should be punishable. Excessive gun and ammunition hoarding should be prohibited at all times.

If a gun isn’t the tool used in violence, they will find an alternative method to commit crimes against innocent people. I wish I had the answer as to what’s happened to cause people to horrible things and how do we fix it.

Nick Tulloh I’m a long time MJ subscriber but this article is full of holes. In no small part because by definition gun-related homicides are ALL reported, gun-related defense is not. Mark Twain would have been proud of these ‘statistics’.
The funny thing is that the phrase “gun violence” does not make any sense if you translate it to any other language. I am fluent in several European languages, and the it would get a “What ???” reaction. That is because it insinuate that the gun itself committed some kind of a violent act. Even in British English it would create a question which is what Piers Morgan knows better than anybody. Scotland Yard does not classify anything as “gun violence”. If you get robbed at gunpoint in London it would be classified as simple theft until the perpetrator is convicted. Then it will be classified as a robbery. You will have to dig into the case file to find out what was used during the robbery. So his references to statistics from England is pure BS. And guess what – anybody can ask Scotland Yard or the City police for that matter and they will tell you – they do not have any statistics like that available. So again liberal media is unreliable. Don’t take my word for it check it yourself.
