God bless America and the volunteers who have been stepping up to fill the void left by Obama’s steadfast refusal to let America’s armed forces defend themselves at home.
While some guys standing outside a recruiting station are of questionable value to stopping a potential threat (and there is a threat out there), they are providing a deterrent against copycat attacks to cowards like that Muslim attacker in Chattanooga. These are American patriots, and even if they don’t all look like they are squared away soldiers, they are doing something as is their right as free citizens of this great nation.
It’s this same sense of duty that was found in the days and months ahead of April 19, 1775. Just as everyone back then wasn’t a trained, door-kicking infantry soldier, these volunteers today are the same, but they serve a purpose with good intentions. What’s more, even the untrained can thwart bad people with evil in their hearts. These individuals are getting off the couch and putting themselves in harm’s way to protect and defend America’s soldiers, sailors and Marines (and Coasties) who we all see are left unarmed and defenseless thanks to Obama’s Department of Defense decree.
Then again, Obama would probably like to see America’s armed forces become America’s “unarmed” forces, not only at home, but abroad as well.
There are people out there who no doubt wish they had served in America’s armed forces (myself included, in hindsight). There are some who probably wished they could but were precluded by a host of issues. For these folks, this is their way of helping out. And so long as they aren’t causing a problem, where’s the problem (aside from horribly bad publicity for soft-on-terror Democrats)?
It’s no different than people who volunteer in other ways – in their churches and hospitals, in soup kitchens, in schools and in a myriad of other volunteer positions making America a better place overall. This volunteer endeavor at recruiting stations, however, carries with it a non-negligible risk of getting hurt or killed by a copycat attacker.
America’s citizens – particularly its armed citizens – gave this country its existence. America’s armed citizens have protected and defended it against enemies foreign and domestic for almost two hundred fifty years. America’s citizens are what has made America the greatest nation that has ever been.
America’s citizens step up because of patriotism and love of their country and their fellow Americans. Another way of saying it is they protect and defend that which is closest to their hearts. America’s citizens – particularly her armed citizens – don’t cower, hide or run from danger. We meet it head on.
And if there’s “radicalized” Muslims in America who would attack our unarmed military members here at home at recruiting stations or elsewhere, you can bet that if politically elected or appointed commanders won’t allow our armed forces members to carry self-defense tools, Armed Americans will step up and look out for them in the face of a threat.
We all help keep America great in our own ways.
Even dangerous old men like me.

the miltary leaders at the pentagon have msde it very clear civilian armed guards are not welcome. the concept of arming military active duty, guard, or reserve recruitrs just does not pss common sense as weapons training is deficient inadequate for handgun, rifle, shotgun. if we could get all or ven some military into even the basic course taught by gsl it would be a tremendous step in right direction.
