Nebraska’s concealed carry law prohibits lawful carry in places of worship.
Why? It certainly isn’t because nothing bad ever happens in a church. (That’s sarcasm, for the sarcastically challenged.)
As was the case this past Sunday when a 76-year-old woman was robbed and beaten by a pair of scumbags with evil in their hearts.
From the Omaha World Herald:
Omaha, NE – An assault and robbery of a 76-year-old woman Sunday morning in the back of St. Cecilia Cathedral left a parish priest shaken when he watched the surveillance video.
The Rev. James Netusil said Tuesday that he was in the sacristy preparing for 11:30 a.m. Mass when the assault occurred. An usher rushed in and asked for a towel to clean blood from the face of a woman who had been mugged.
“Honestly, I saw the video for the first time this morning, and it just makes you cringe,” Netusil said. “After the first kid grabbed her purse, the second one hits her, and there’s no point to it. It was just evil.”
Did those HD cameras make her “feel secure” as movie theaters would have you believe?
You know, for all of Illinois’ problems with our CCW law, at least churches and restaurants aren’t prohibited places.
Thanks the Lord for small favors.
I don’t think an attack like this would happen in my church.
If it did, the robbers would probably fall down the stairs to the basement.
Two or three times, tripping as they went.
Then we’d call the police.
Sam
Sam, surely some good, right-thinking member of your congregation owns a backhoe?
Why waste the cops’ time?
Screw that, tell me why these new communion wafers taste so weird!
