Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring

Virginia’s new anti-gun Democrat Attorney General ending reciprocity with most states.

Not because there has been a problem, but because he’s bought and paid for by Michael Bloomberg and he’s carrying out Bloomberg’s radical, anti-gun agenda through executive actions, not through the legislature where they don’t have the votes to enact gun control.

THE MEAN-SPIRITED ATTACK ON CHP HOLDERS CONTINUES – THIS TIME WHEN TRAVELING OUT OF STATE

(VCDL) – The Virginia Attorney General, Mark Herring, a member of the Party of Gun Control, has decided to expand the attack on concealed handgun permit holders that was started by Governor McAuliffe. What Herring and McAuliffe can’t get done through the General Assembly, they will get by abusing their elected positions.

Herring had an “audit” performed on the states whose permits are honored in Virginia and has decided (surprise, surprise) that two-dozen of those states don’t meet the “standards” required.

The two-dozen states will have their recognition dropped on February 1, 2016.

Was there a problem with out-of-state CHP holders carrying in Virginia that triggered the audit?

NO, of course not. CHP holders are the most law-abiding of America’s citizens.

Just like the McAuliffe’s state-agency gun ban, this isn’t about public safety at all. It is about vindictively attacking CHP holders, paying back Bloomberg for campaign donations, and coddling criminals and terrorists.

(Lest any of you forget how important it is to get to the polls, Mark Herring beat Mark Obenshain by only **165** votes with the help of Michael Bloomberg back in 2013. Because of those 165 votes, here we are.)

VIRGINIA CHP HOLDERS WILL BE ENDANGERED WHEN TRAVELING OUT OF STATE

This gutless attack on our rights also affects some of OUR NEIGHBORS: North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky and will undoubtedly cost Virginia CHP holders the ability to carry in many states where we have been carrying for years!

It will be a while before we know the full extent of this treachery, but when we know, it will be disseminated on VA-ALERT.

VCDL WILL BE FIGHTING BACK!

A bill is going to be introduced in January that will change the law to honor the permits from ALL other states. Period. Last year the same bill cleared the House and was killed in the Senate Finance committee when the State Police lied, saying they would lose money if the bill passed.

Also, we will be going over the results of Herrings “audit” with a fine tooth comb. From the news article, below, I can see what appears to be some major flaws in the audit. This part will be handled in the courts if the full-recognition bill fails.

LOBBY DAY IS MONDAY, JANUARY 18TH AT 8:30 AM AT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY BUILDING, LOCATED AT 9TH AND BROAD STREETS IN RICHMOND.

We need to send a strong message to our state government that we are FED UP with our rights being STOLEN from us. We can do that by having a MASSIVE attendance on Lobby Day! Details on the buses will be coming out very soon. Carry by CHP holders is allowed in the General Assembly Building and at the Capitol Building.

The Virginia Citizens Defense League is a powerful gun-rights group and they’re mobilizing for a fight.  It will be a good one to watch.

More about the Virginia Attorney General and his selective enforcement of law to suit his personal beliefs:

(Washington Post) – …“Unfortunately, I have little doubt as to his true motivations,” Virginia House Speaker William J. Howell (R-Stafford) said. “Mark Herring consistently seeks to interpret and apply the law of the commonwealth through the lens of his own personal, political opinions. He is damaging the integrity of the office he holds.”

Herring’s action amplified a heated debate in Virginia and around the country in the wake of rampant gun violence. It is also in keeping with his embrace of liberal issues as he seeks a second term.

A former state senator, Herring gained a national profile for refusing to defend Virginia’s same-sex marriage ban and followed up with rulings siding with advocates for abortion rights and immigration reform.

  1. Since when does any Attorney General have the power to legislate? I won’t be spending any more of my vacation money there, especially when there are so many gun-friendly places to visit!

  2. I’m sorry to hear that the good people of Virginia are being deprived of a constitutional right. Hopefully the new legislation introduced to force recognition of all permits makes its way into law.

Imagine the chaos that would ensue if we all needed free speech permits and a patchwork of illogical reciprocity aggreements to exercise our first amendment rights. This is the slope gun grabbers want us to be on, where constitutionally recognized rights become negotiable privileges, granted and revoked on the whims of politicians.

We are in a similar position here in PA, with a largely conservative population held captive by liberals in densely populated urban areas. Our govenor and attorney general are both Democrats (our attorney general is also a criminal currently under indictment), and I’m certain they’re both greedily wringing their gun grabbing hands in anticipation, hoping anti gun efforts in Virginia succeed so they can do the same here.

I wish you luck in stopping this.
