The Wounded Warrior Project has found itself in the news again as they are suing two injured veterans who are former employees.

The organization, which purports to help injured veterans but in reality spends just 13.5% of monies collected on grants to help injured veterans as of their 2014 IRS Form 990.  Meanwhile they spend $26 million on “conferences, conventions and meetings” – (cough! PARTIES cough!) for their nearly 500 employees that make an average of $86,613 each.  They spend forty-some million on fundraising.  We covered their shameful financial last week.

Did we mention parties, er I mean conferences, conventions and meetings…

The call it “teambuilding”.

At “all-hands” conferences.

We call them pathetic and have designated Justin Beibers’ new song “Love Yourself” to them.  Specifically the lyrics:  “You should go and love yourself.”  That’s a very kind way to express how we feel about the WWP.

Wounded Warrior Project suing 2 injured veterans

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (News 4 Jax) – In 10 years, the Wounded Warrior Project went from non-existent to the 38th largest charity in the United States, bringing in $312 million in donations in 2014 alone.

…“Warriors that were employees have been fired by Wounded Warrior Project,” said Carol, a woman who used to work at WWP and does not want to reveal her identity.

News4Jax sources said many of those warriors who were terminated had post-traumatic stress disorder, the same invisible wounds the charity says it strives to help warriors heal. Sources say people have been too afraid to come forward and tell the public, until now.

“Dare you say anything, you don’t say anything,” said Carol. “They would ruin me. They would come after me somehow, someway.”

…What’s more, News4Jax found two lawsuits filed in Duval County by WWP against fellow injured veterans formerly employed by the non-profit. Both of those veterans declined to talk to News4Jax.

Documents show one disabled veteran and a woman, was sued because WWP found a copy of her severance agreement in the hands of an Indiana charity – also being sued by WWP.

The second injured veteran, a man, is being sued because a donor rescinded his $2,400 donation to WWP after finding out that warrior had been fired.

  1. Any feedback on a notion I just had?

I like to sue people. I like even better BEING sued.

How about I incorporate an Illinois business, “The Wounded Warrior Project is a FRAUD, Inc.”?

D’ya spose these crooked prikks would sue me? Every single news story about it would include the name “The Wounded Warrior Project is a FRAUD, INC.”!!!!! That’d be great! There’s an advertising maxim that no publicity is bad publicity. But that’d be BAD publicity for them!

Anyone want to start a new game? Sue WWP. For fun!!

    Trump ’16!!!!

  2. Ah, Wounded Warriors makes the news again.

    Nice going, guys

Ken, be careful what you ask for. I have no doubt you would get your ass sued by those jerks for doing such a thing. They don’t spend close to $2M on lawyers to doodle on napkins all day long.

    Sam

    1. As usual, Sam, you fail to grasp the intent of my proposal: Which is PRECISELY TO BE SUED! !

      Get it now?

When they sue me, I get DISCOVERY, which means I get to dig into all their FINANCIALS and get their SWORN declarations as to what all the “other” revelations in their Forms 990 are for.

It would be a FRICKING HOOT.

I don’t mind tying myself up in court (they’d have to sue me here!) in order to rip their arses apart. There’s nothing like DEFENDING a suit by a fraud claiming that he’s NOT a fraud!

Get your questions for them ready.

  3. is this any surprise? neither the va or dod much less veterans organizations are helping any vets without lots of hassles. they all collect lots of $$$$$ but for what? medical care is provided by va or dod facilities but that is not happening because of the denials between toxic exposures and consequent adverse health effects. Hiding documents and denying warriors were even deployed is common method. vets get frustrated then select suicide. if you want to know which groups are any good just look to see if they provide vets with medical reports ignored regulations, medical directives , and ignored health care requirements. Some of us care but very few in va or congress care at all to help vets. PLEASE REMEMBER 90% OF CASUALTIES ARE IN REALITY FRIENDLY FIRE NOT FROM ENEMY ENGAGEMENT- FIRE FIGHT. Local vets members of GSL have problems getting mandated care all the time.
