Mississippi passed a “Constitutional Carry” measure today in their Senate by 36-14.

That’s not all!  The bill also includes a measure to allow armed security in churches (along with criminal and civil protections for those who serve in that role), AND would nullify any executive orders or federal regulations that would limit gun rights.

It’s already passed the MS House, but must go back for another vote after a few modifications were made.

Of course, the mainstream media contacted the Moms Demand Action girls and got this quote:

Shirley Hopkins Davis with the Mississippi chapter of Moms Demand Action in a statement called the Senate vote a “dangerous setback” that could dismantle the state’s concealed carry permit system.

Really?  It could dismantle the state’s carry law?  Is that the best the Mississippi Moms Demand Action could come up with.  I didn’t expect a thesis on dark matter, but I expected something at least functionally intelligent.  Maybe when you’re used to talking to children all day long, it’s difficult to speak with words more than two or three syllables long.

Not even two weeks ago, Everytown for Gun Control threw everything they had into a big rally on the capitol steps in Jackson.  The media, keen to generously estimate the crowd size for anti-gun activists, charitably described it as “small”.

A small group gathered at the Capitol on Thursday to urge members of the Mississippi Senate to vote against a bill that would allow churches to designate certain members to carry concealed guns in church.

They barely could scare up a baker’s dozen people to advocate against card-carrying good guys carrying guns in churches to protect congregations from violent criminals, terrorists and other ne’er-do-wells.

  1. Illinois will get it. We’ll be #50, but we’ll get it as we’re enjoying tapioca pudding in a nursing home.

    1. Could it be that this is just another good reason to get out of the state of Hellinois?
Their are many more states that are much more firearm friendly.
Of course that’s just my observation and opinion.

  2. @Dyspeptic Skeptic,

And South Carolina will be #49. We have a number of RINOs in the Senate that have blocked constitutional carry the last 2 years so it never even gets out of committee. Tellingly, the leader of this gang (Larry Martin) is a former Democrat that changed to the Republican party. He and the rest of the RINO obstructionists need to be primaried and retired the next time they come up for election. The corruption and good ole boy system is alive and well in Columbia. Where’s the can of RAID when you need it?

  3. Keep pushing harder than the opposition, keep making louder noise than the opposition, never quit, we are starting to turn the tide.

  4. Never underestimate the power of stupid people (low iormation voters) to elect stupid, low information politicians that eschew freedom, liberty and personal responsibility.
