People in Chicago can’t even unload their cars in decent neighborhoods without not-so-decent reprobates trying to point a gun at them to commit an armed robbery.

Sometimes though, the intended victims had decided earlier in their lives that they would no longer be unarmed victims.

No longer would they as good people rely on a criminal’s goodwill and kindness.

No longer would they be forced to endure those feelings of helplessness and humiliating fear-based incontinence.

Nope.

Some folks have empowered themselves.   They became gun owners.  They got training.  And they carry.

Now, when 28-year-old pulls out a gun and announces an armed robbery, these empowered people simply pull out their own hardware and take care of business.  As any self-respecting, civilized member of society would do when faced with a rabid animal.

Police said a 28-year-old man with a gun walked up to two men unloading a vehicle in the 1100-block of West Winona Street around 10:30 p.m. Thursday and demanded their phones, wallets and keys.

One of the victims handed over his wallet and phone. Police said the other victim pulled out a gun and fired at the suspect several times. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

  1. Nice story. If only Chicago had more good guys with guns, maybe the criminals wouldn’t be so emboldened to attack without fear.
