Target has found itself buried in the mud over its proudly touted policy to allow people to use whichever gender of restroom that they “identify” with on a given day. Yes, even if you’ve got all the equipment of a male, you can use the women’s restroom and changing rooms at Target by simply claiming that you self-identify as a female.
That hasn’t sat well with a whole lot of everyday Americans. As of the time of writing this, almost 1.2 million Americans have pledged not to shop Target until things change. I didn’t sign the pledge, but I guarantee you that neither my wife nor I will set foot into Target anytime soon. Our pledge is unrelated to the bathroom issue, but in response to an earlier Target position against concealed carry in their stores from almost two years ago. This is why I’ve generally ignored this brouhaha over bathrooms at Target stores.
Leave the Guns Outside, Target Asks
(Wall Street Journal) – Target Corp. on Wednesday said it would “respectfully” ask customers to not bring guns into its stores, “even in communities where it is permitted by law,” responding to a month-long campaign from a gun-control group.
Why did Target take their position against allowing card-carrying good guys to carry their personal defense tools in Target stores? From the story above…
Bringing firearms to Target creates an environment that is at odds with the family-friendly shopping and work experience we strive to create.
And allowing anyone – including sexual predators – to use the women’s restroom at any time is creating a family-friendly shopping and work experience?
While the number of licensed concealed carry holders convicted of misusing their firearms at stores is statistically insignificant (if only our governors were so ethical in Illinois), there have been plenty of instances of sexual abuse of women in public restrooms and changing facilities by perverts. Breitbart compiled a bunch that made the news. How many thousands more didn’t get reported?

So just remember that while Target doesn’t want you to bring your legally possessed firearm into their stores, they seem perfectly okay with creating an environment where perverts and registered sex offenders (sorry, I’m repeating myself) can watch your wife, sister or daughter in a state of undress in their stores – or worse yet, creating a condition more favorable to allowing one of these predators to commit a sexual assault on an unsuspecting women or little girl.
Is it any wonder why over a million productive Americans have taken the pledge to take their money elsewhere?
As this latest boycott of Target grows, it’ll be amusing to watch just how long Target execs stick with their far-leftist ideology when it’s costing them hundreds of millions in profits on roughly $73B in sales.
We’ll just see how strong the leftist Kool-Aid is. After all, there are maybe a couple of hundred thousand self-identified transgendered individuals in America today. And probably only tens of thousands of those are post-surgery transgendered.
Contrast that with a hundred million gun owners – and nationally well over 5% of the population with a concealed carry license in their wallets. And millions more from the ten states with Constitutional Carry.
Target should have taken Kroger’s stance and told the gun control fanatics and the gay mafia to fly a kite and pound sand.
Meanwhile, Walmart is laughing all the way to the bank.
I know my household has probably spent close to $10,000 at Walmart since Target announced their “guns aren’t welcome” policy. Everything from groceries to tires to ammo to prescriptions and health and beauty aids. What’s more, we drive past the Target store on our way to Wal-mart.
That won’t change anytime soon, at least until Target backs down on their wrong-headed policies on both guns and bathrooms.
Until then, I encourage perverts to shop at Target. It keeps them away from me and mine while we shop elsewhere.
The last line is the best line… let the pervs and the violent thugs hang out at Target. Makes life safer for my family!
Target… is a great place for gun hating leftists to shop. And perverts. And evedyone else that is criminally inclined.
Exactly! Vote with your wallet.
True!
Miejer’s is right across the road, Walmart is in the next block. I can’t understand how corporate management can be so blind. Oops, yes I can.
Hope they wake up to reality before they go the way of K-Mart and Sears. I think they need every dollar of revenue they can muster these days.
We should be encouraging Target and all other like-minded corporate “citizens” to continue to be useful idiots – serving as a magnet for criminals, thugs, perverts and the insane.
As you noted, it makes it safer for our families shopping at Target’s competitors.
Didn’t Napoleon once say, “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake”?
You should be supporting their idiocy, not criticizing it.
Their no conceal got shoppers in a bind in Bourbonnais yesterday as there was active shooter in the store. However police where able to take the shooter down before they could open fire.
I don’t think the idiot involved even had a gun.
It did take them an hour or so to sort it all out, with literally dozens of cops from several departments rushing to the area.
I’m sure they’re looking to talk with whomever called it in as an “Active Shooter” because it wasn’t.
John
Did the responding police officers have to leave their weapons secured in their cruisers? Just sayin’, no guns is no guns, right?
You posted a list of men behaving badly. Only one involved someone claiming to be transgender (the story about the shelter in Toronto). You are comparing criminals to the people who have gone through hormone treatment and psychological testing to reassign their gender. These people are vetted after a long and expensive process.
Put another way, if an anti-gun site listed a bunch of incidents where gang members used a concealed handguns to commit a crime and used that as reason to not allow lawful concealed carry. Our argument would be “those are criminals! Concealed carry permit holders are vetted after a long and expensive process!”
Oh wait…
Oh wait… Does Target require transgendered folks to have undergone hormone treatments, psychological testing and so forth to use the ladies room?
Nice try Matt.
” You are comparing criminals to the people who have gone through hormone treatment and psychological testing to reassign their gender. These people are vetted after a long and expensive process.”
Those individuals who have gone through all of that and more aren’t the problem here, Matt.
The problem here is that this policy facilitates the misuse of public restroom and changing facilities at Target by those with evil intent.
Your straw man argument is 100% fail.
John
You acknowledge that people who have gone through gender reassignment “aren’t the problem.” Good to hear. Now, which bathroom should they be allowed to use? I ask because absent a policy like this, these people would not be able to use the facilities that match their identity.
As for “enabling misuse,” that sounds suspiciously like the “blood in the streets” argument against concealed carry. Again, save for one entry, your list was entirely comprised of men who are not transgendered. The men on your list are all criminals. They do not represent transgendered people. Much like how gang bangers don’t represent law abiding gun owners.
This is what is so annoying about the “culture wars” that the left and right like to play. Everyone is using the same tactics against each other but refuses to acknowledge it.
Which bathroom? Haven’t they been able to go potty for decades without nanny state government holding their hands? You are trying to make this my / our problem when it is not.
How about trannies dress gender neutral?
How about you don’t mandate that I have to let some pervert into the pool locker room with my little girl? How about you invite the pervs and trannies to shower with your wife or girlfriend instead.
Your wrote: ” I ask because absent a policy like this, these people would not be able to use the facilities that match their identity. ”
Really now? They have never used a public restroom before since their “change”?
But frankly, our objection isn’t a statistically insignificant number of Americans anguishing over which restroom to use – we’re talking about a facilitating opportunities for sexual predators to get their jollies looking at women and little girls… and potentially raping them as well if opportunity arises.
John
Why are you equating transgendered people with sexual predators? And why are they being called perverts? That is ridiculous! Again, you yourself said that they “aren’t the problem here” so what’s wrong here? You’re afraid that actual predators (criminals) will be enabled. Here’s the problem though. When places like North Carolina make laws that criminalize trans people using the “wrong” bathroom (the one they identify with) that is a serious problem. As for your fear of perverts (criminals), I thought can ominals didn’t follow the law? Isn’t that why we should reduce gun control laws? They only punish the innocent? Criminals don’t follow them?
It’s the same argument! And yet you refuse to accept that!
Criminals will continue to do crimes. There are already laws in place against what these people are doing! This just makes things better for the good guys!
Quick question, was my previous sentence about reducing gun control laws or allowing trans people to pee in the bathroom of their identified gender?
Answer: Both.
There are far more perverts than there are transgender people. Are we to sacrifice the well being of our families so that some guy can claim he identifies as a woman can go into the ladies room so he can get a thrill? If someone that thinks they are a woman, dresses like a woman, and pees like a woman goes into the ladies room, who is going to question that? On the other hand what about me, I don’t want some woman waltzing into where I’m taking care of my business, don’t I have a right to privacy?
I can appreciate the concern, but don’t you realize you are using the same arguments that the antis use against us?
There are far more criminals than there are people who conceal carry. Are we to sacrifice the well being of our families so that some guy can claim he’s a good guy and carry in public so he can get a thrill? If someone that hunts and target shoots who is going to question that? On the other hand what about me, I don’t want some gun nut waltzing into where I’m taking care of my business, don’t I have a right to safety?
It’s the same argument and it is wrong on both counts.
The criminals will do what they were going to do. If an actual criminal pervert gets caught it will be really easy to tear down a fake “I’m a woman” defense.
People here just think that LGBT people are yucky. There’s complaints on this very page about being upset to have their lifestyle “shoving their garbage into our faces, sometimes almost literally” I don’t know where you live, but I used to live in Wrigleville, about 3 blocks from Boys Town (good restaurants there by the way). I never once had someone try to shove anything, literal or figurative, into my face. People just want to live their lives and be left alone.
What’s fascinating is that people on this site are calling trans people perverts and rapists and all sorts of nasty things. Dismissing them as a “statistically insignificant number of Americans.” Yet we are demanding public accommodation to carry guns and are angered when there’s opposition to us!
“We’re enabling them to sexually assault someone” is countered by “we’re enabling them to kill someone”
“They are a statistically insignificant number of Americans” applies to both groups. I know we like to toss around the fact that 13 million permits have been issued in the US, but that number is less than 4% of the population. And that’s on the high side. I would like to know how many unique permits have been issued. I personally have 3 with a 4th one coming. So clearly those 13 million permits don’t correlate to 13 million people.
Anyway, we’re going in circles here and I’ve said my piece. There won’t be blood in the streets over carry or trans people in bathrooms. Criminals will still do crimes. Prosecute them and that’s that.
My guess is that we’ll see more single occupancy private washrooms as a result of all this.
Matt,
This is a case of feel-good political correctness. The number of legitimately trans-gender people that this affects can statistically be rounded to zero, and as was pointed out, its not even clear that this law actually helps them. They’ve had no problem using public restrooms for the last few decades.
What this is, is Target’s Feel-Good sacrificial offering on the altar of political correctness. Its a PR move – we need to “appear” welcoming, never mind if it actually has any bearing on reality.
Despite its inane foolishness, I have no problem with this (free country and all) until you (Target) decided to make my family member their latest sacrifice on the PC altar. THEN we have a problem.
I couldn’t care LESS about people who are legitimately attempting to live a trans-gender lifestyle using the bathroom of their choice. Frankly, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, no one has a problem with it using the restroom with the other ducks. The idea that the people who take issue with this are “homophobic” is a flagrant straw man agreement designed to squash dissent.
What I do care about is a beaurocrat activist’s “PC offering” putting my family in danger from very real, and very common sexual predators.
But again, free country – they’re free to have dangerous policies on their private property, and I’m free to take my family elsewhere to shop.
I have a Target store 300 yards from my front door.
I never shop there.
I have a Meijer 400 yards from my front door.
Meijer does not ask about my self defense, my gender identity, my political leanings, or what country I was born in, (as if that even matters anymore.)
Guess where I shop?
Next to changing the recipe for Coke, this thing with Target will probably go down as one of the biggest mistakes ever.
Well done you gun hating fools!
I think I only shopped in the local “bulls-eye” store once, many years ago. When I found out they refused to let Salvation Army and Marines’ “Toys for Tots” to set up in front of the store I have not “darkened their doors”, refusing concealed firearms carriers was the “stake through the heart” for me. I barely look at their store as IP drive by.
We’re 21 trillion in debt.
We’ve got Muslims trying to overthrow the west and return the world to Seventh Century barbarism.
We’ve got antibiotic resistant bacteria growing.
We’ve got half of America not working, but instead living off the government tit.
And the goddamn leftists have us worried about where trannies can go take a piss?
Jesus Christt
In the news today: More irrelevant sh*t designed to keep you stupid.
Boch, stop being and idiot and retract this piece of homophobic trash. Guns Save Life is a place I go to check up on what is happening regarding gun laws in a neighboring state, and I support and recommend the site to friends who live there. The moment you open the site to the same sort of crap Fox pushes you lose me and all the others who agree on the “shall not be infringed part”. You also add fuel to the gun grabbers claim that we–the people of the gun–are racist, inbred, homophobic, misogynistic dumb shits. I don’t give a damn what superstition you follow in the name of “faith”, nor do I care what you think of the science of climate change–I come here for information on who is trying to limit our natural, civic and constitutionally protected right to armed self defense.
Keep trotting out your fears of others (the LGBT, the atheist or the anarchist) and you’ll be as useful to furthering our common cause (freedom) as the idiots on fox: No use whatsoever.
(disclaimer: Anarchist and Atheist and proud of it, discrimination and hatred adverse).
You’re an atheist. What a shocker that is.
So it’s homophobic to be opposed to perverts?
A “phobia” means that one is afraid of something. I’m not afraid of homos, just disgusted by them and have grown weary of them shoving their garbage into our faces, sometimes almost literally.
Good buy, good riddance, J. Wagner….
oops, guess that should be good bye, good riddance….
J Wagner is entirely correct. What’s interesting here is that the people here are willing to lose a 2nd Amendment supporter over a non-2nd Amendment issue. That’s not how you preserve the 2nd Amendment. We need all the people we can get. Not to say “bye bye” to people.
If you think the 2nd Amendment will survive if we weed out all of the people that hold different political positions on non gun related issues, the we’re in trouble.
The way I see it, J Wagner is the one trying to weed us out. He is telling us that just because this is a pro-gun site, we aren’t allowed to express our views on other issues because our views offend him. Screw that.
His is a minority view, just like all of this BLT crap. An extreme minority pushing their crap on the majority, trying to make it appear that the majority are the ones out of line. I for one am tired of it, and I will not keep my mouth shut.
What other “BLT (sic) crap” are you upset about? Are you upset that they can get married? That they can live their lives without being in the closet? Seriously, what’s the real thing you are upset about?
As to the LGBT community being an “extreme minority,” guess what, we concealed carriers are also an extreme minority. Being a gun owner in itself is a minority, albeit a large one. But as for concealed carry, at 13 million permits issued total in the US, we’re less than 4% of the population. Likely far less as many of us have more than one permit. I have Utah, Florida, Illinois and soon to have New Hampshire. So indeed we might be almost 1% of the population. That’s also an extreme minority.
And yet we are demanding public accommodation too. Get rid of no-guns signs, remove statutorily prohibited places, remove magazine capacity restrictions, remove AWBs, don’t tax our ammunition, don’t register our firearms, and don’t require universal background checks. Positions I agree with. Meanwhile we are throwing comments around about gay and trans people being perverts and rapists and other vile comments. We then say “bye bye” to people who support the 2nd Amendment but don’t agree with the non-gun political issues. This I don’t agree with.
And we wonder why the antis feel emboldened. The antis can go out to say that we’re just itching to kill people with our hidden unregistered large capacity guns that we purchased without a background check and many of them are homophobic too! We need to win over as many hearts and minds as we can and this is not helping. Saying “bye bye” to J Wagner and people like him is just shooting ourselves in the foot.
Just realized that I just called J Wagner “him” without knowing for sure. Ironic given the topic at hand! My bad, and apologies to J Wagner if I was wrong.
Matt:

An extreme minority? An extreme minority is the number of transgendered folks in America.
You’re equating that with almost 5.5% of the US adult population with CCW licenses? And the inhabitants of fully 20% of the nation who don’t need a license to carry concealed. And then there are states like Kentucky where no license is required to open carry.
Nice try, sir.
The purpose of this story was to raise awareness of Target’s double standard: Leave your guns outside our store because they aren’t welcome and they create “an environment at odds” with a “safe shopping and working experience”… while they facilitate the abuse of women and little girls by allowing anyone who wants to use the ladies changing and restroom facilities.
I could care less where gay or transgendered people go to the bathroom or whether they stand or squat. They aren’t the problem.
The problem is sexual predators using every opportunity to exploit potential victims.
This isn’t about being pro- or anti-gay, this is about calling out Targets hypocrisy.
And for the record, we have a transgendered individual who regularly attends our meetings. Her name is Jackie, and I consider her a friend.
John
Why did Target take their position against allowing card-carrying good guys to carry their personal defense tools in Target stores? From the story above…
Bringing firearms to Target creates an environment that is at odds with the family-friendly shopping and work experience we strive to create.
And allowing anyone – including sexual predators – to use the women’s restroom at any time is creating a family-friendly shopping and work experience?
Enough said.
Are they posted? None of the ones I’ve been to were as I recall. This is a stance similar to Starbucks. Give lip service to the antis but don’t do anything to stop us. It’s smart business.
We have a Target here??
Kind of hard to boycott something that is never on your radar to begin with.
My method of attack is this: go into the ladies room, leave the seat down and piss all over it. If all my brothers do this by tomorrow Michelle will be tweating “we want out restrooms back” And by the next day no more shared restrooms
BAHAHAHAAAA!! A hilarious solution to an imaginary problem.
J Wagner,
I find it interesting that you want only gun issues discussed here, and in making the “request” you proceed to insult the religious beliefs of the majority of gun owners by calling it “superstition.”
I’d say go bark up another tree.
There’s an old saying that there are no atheists in foxholes. However, I would bet that there are a whole lot of them in butt holes.
To all you ACLU sympathizers and political correctifiers: Making this a law is dangerous and stupid…watch this video. You are the ones that have no compassion, logic or demands. These are the real victims. Just to drive the 2A connection home…if I find a male in the bathroom my daughter is using, I will be ready to engage and I will not be quiet.

Let me share two words for liberal corporations…..Sports Authority.
I have been reading all these comments. And I am transgendered. I thought it would come to this some day. I have been a member of GSL for 8. Years and have attended. Many meetings and most of you know me I have delivered papers for a long time. And my route now is 350 miles every month GSL gave me a free CC. Class 3 years ago and I thank them … I have taken my M-1 carbine collection to meetings several times. My most recent one was at pontiac meeting. With a brand new inland For the most part. G S L officers are friendly to me But. Any time I take a gun to a meeting they won’t acknkwledge I brought it or even ask me to talk about them. I now have 10. I would think it would be interesting. To hear about them. To say they Are genderfobic. In my opinion they Are. I love these rifles I thought they’de like to hear about them. Isn’t this a gun. Place. Why can’t you let me talk about my 10 carbines I don’t think I am gonna come back any more I might have to pee Thanks for the ride GSL
