Got a nice, high-end ride?

The gang bangers in Chicago want to catch up with you.

Vehicular hijackings – carjackings for everyday folk – have doubled in Chicago since 2015.  Almost two thirds of them involve a weapon.  Teen inner city youths have taken to prowling the streets looking for nice rides.

So, if you've got a high end car, you've got a target painted on you whether you realize it or not.

What's more, it's gotten so bad that even the mainstream media can't ignore it.

Chicago (Sun-Times) – Whether it’s a Bears wide receiver’s Maserati or the 2006 BMW heisted in an incident that led to a man being shot early Tuesday, carjackings are making headlines around downtown Chicago and on the West and North sides.

And city crime statistics show their numbers have been on the rise: Vehicular hijackings in Chicago nearly doubled between 2015 and 2016 and are occurring with the same frequency this year.

Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the uptick “appears to be a pattern between Area Central and Area North involving juveniles and targeting higher-end vehicles.”

Why the sudden rush of carjackings?

Well, because police solve fewer carjacking cases than they do homicides.  The last line of the Sun-Times story says it all.

Of the 270 carjackings this year, 14 cases have ended in an arrest, records show.

Carry your gun.  Be ready to use it.

    1. And then you have a case of Vehicular battery or homicide to worry about.

    1. If you read SCC on a regular basis, you'll see that another factor is the "no pursuit" rules placed on the coppers.  If a carjacker doesn't pull over, they're not allowed to chase.  So basically once the thug is behind the wheel, he's basically free and clear unless there's heavy traffic.

      Sick.

  1. When visiting family in the northwest suburbs I used to take the "flyin' " Dan Ryan and the Kennedy expressways through the heart of Chi"raq"….but not anymore….I'll pay the tolls and take either I-355 or I- 294 to avoid going into Chicago….I don't want to go near that hell hole…..have gun will travel….biggest part of concealled carry training is to stay away from trouble if at all possible and to maintain situational awareness at all times.

  2. What the heck, man!  If you're not losing your car to the gangbangers, you're losing it to Lincoln Park's Pirates or the chitty itself!   I haven't lost a car to the chitty of chitcago for over fifteen years!   Eff 'em all ta he!!

When the terrorists nuke you, I'm'a stand by and watch you melt!
