A law-abiding homeowner in Chicago found himself face-to-face with a trio of brazen home invaders Sunday afternoon. The ne'er-do-wells came in through a basement window. Hearing the intruders, the homeowner grabbed his legally owned gun in self-defense. Moments later, a confrontation occurred and gunfire erupted. After the shooting died down, the unidentified homeowner then barricaded himself in a bedroom and called police. When the smoke cleared, all three intruders – two males and a female – lay dead right there.
Police continue to investigate, but if initial observations pan out, it would make it a self-defense hat trick. The dead include 17-year-old Antonio Lopez, 22-year-old Narcisco Ledesma and a yet-to-be identified 24-year-old female. Media reports say the neighborhood has faced a rash of home invasions recently. Time will tell if this case put an end to that crime wave.
Could the deceased be "undocumented immigrants"? If so, this case might become very embarrassing at the national level for Mayor Rahm "Sanctuary City" Emanuel.

A man told police he shot and killed three people — a man, a woman and a teenage boy — who broke into his home on the Southeast Side Sunday evening, according to authorities.
The man, in his 30s, said the three entered the home in the 10200 block of South Ewing Avenue through the basement around 5:30 p.m., police said. The man shot them, then locked himself in his bedroom, police said.
Responding officers found 17-year-old Antonio Lopez, 22-year-old Narcisco Ledesma and an unidentified 24-year-old woman dead from gunshot wounds, police said.
Ledesma was shot in the head and Lopez suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
This incident happened at 5:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday, proving that criminals choose the time and place of their attack, not the innocent victim. The wise and prudent person will maintain situational awareness to some degree, even while at home.
The story marks just one incident over the weekend that saw 11 killed and 34 wounded over this past weekend in Rahm's paradise.
If the invaders were illegals, then this would be a very black eye for Sanctuary City Rahm.
