That certainly seems to be the case after progressive Democrat Marty Moylan introduced House Bill 4107. And his fellow Illinois Democrats jumped on board as co-sponsors:

That bill would effectively ban all semi-automatic rifles that can accept a magazine, and shotguns that hold five or more rounds. With shorty shells, that's pretty much all semi-automatic shotguns. All .50 caliber rifles would also be banned, along with .50 caliber ammo. And bump stocks and all trigger modifications and parts.
Ah, but Marty the Magnamimous and his fellow Illinois Democrats will allow existing owners to keep their semi-auto rifles. If they register themselves and their guns like sex offenders. And keep the guns inside their homes. The bill makes it a felony to leave your personal property with your registered gun(s). Do so and go directly to Illinois prison. Well, with the exception of a hunting trip or practice at the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, IL.
The bill also has a magazine ban on any magazine that holds 10+ rounds. Keep two and go to prison for at least four years. No grandfathering of existing magazines!
What's more, any gun with an adjustable trigger (as are common on many modern rifles), that's good for another four years in prison as a Class 2 felony. If you even have PARTS to complete a trigger job, that's a Class 2 felony.
Deeds trump words when it comes to recognizing gun rights. There is no room for gun owners in the Illinois Democratic Party.
What's more, in addition to all of the Illinois Democratic House and Senate members supporting gun control, every last one of the Democratic candidates for governor have called for more gun control. It's almost as if they are trying to one-up one another in topping the others' radical anti-gun platforms.

I guess shall not be infringed doesn't mean anything to our leaders. If you are not willing to uphold the 2nd amendment and will hide behind others it is time for you to resign. All of you disgust the citizens of Illinois.
Everyone of you down in Springfield need to ask yourself…. why are citizens leaving the state of Illinois? It's the poor performance from everyone "elected". You tax us to death and tax us more NOW you want to Destroy what our founding fathers created…. I thought we were in the USA not communist Russia.
If you allow this nonsense to pass I expect your resignation as well as you giving up your 1st amendment right to free speech.
Seeing as how mass shooters/murderers, terrorists, criminals as well as ner-do-wells are democrats or democrat constituants perhaps we should just ban democrats and their mentally deficient constituants from owning firearms. Liberalism is definatly a mental disease that somehow has no remedy. They can't even responsibly use water pistols, or so say other liberals.

To me, a bigger question to be asked of 'gun rights' Democrat reps and senators down state is why don't you think you are also part of the problem? You vote to keep Madigan, Cullerton, and the other grabber Assembly leaders in power. You 'leaders' live conservative but cast votes for some of the biggest progressives in the state.
That bill is a real piece of garbage! Such nebulous, undefined terms. Trite use of terminology which has never been defined. Hardly the proper way to write legislation. — And references to registration, but NO specification of how/where/when this registration is to be made available, or even possible.

Yep, the demon-rats of IL (and the entire USA) are traitors, pure and simple. Take an oath to uphold the Constitution and then they don't. More people will leave IL with their tax money as IL decends into a Chi-town cesspool. Soon enough IL will be even more broke that it is now.
