Gun people are the greatest people. They give of themselves to make the world a better place. Our own George Irick worked tirelessly towards that end. As we reported earlier, he passed away in a plane crash Saturday evening in Indiana. A week earlier, as a certifified 4H instructor in handguns and hunting and outdoor skills, he volunteered to teach nine youngsters at the Secor Sportsman's Club. The coursework taught the 4-H Hunting and Outdoor Skills Clinic and for the DNR Hunter Safety material.
He has taught these classes for a number of years now, giving of himself to help keep young people and adults safer around hunting and firearms.
George had a passion for the shooting sports. He'll be deeply missed.
He also loved flying, of course.
George died doing the things he loved and felt passionate about. I suppose if you're going to go, there's not a better way to pass away.
