Gun owners in southern Illinois have their work cut out for them on Tuesday evening. At the same time, gun owners in northeastern Illinois have their own direct action event! The Village of Northbrook wants to enact local restrictions on Illinois' concealed carry law. Yeah, this is serious stuff. We need you to come out, bringing one or more of your friends including ladies out to this event Tuesday at 6:30 in Northbrook to oppose these changes.
It doesn't matter to the proponents of this measure that Illinois' concealed carry law has been a monumental success. CCW license-holders are among the most law-abiding in Illinois. If only our governors and other elected officials were so honest!
Anyway, the Northbook Village Board wants to curtail concealed carry in every way they can. They'll hide their intentions and desires behind the old, tired BS of "nobody wants to take your guns away". But like a thug held at gunpoint by the cops after getting caught, while they say whatever they think the cops want to hear, yet every fiber of their being is doing whatever they can to escape the consequences of their criminal behavior.
So, it's time to show up en masse at the Northbrook Village Hall.
Get there. Assert your rights forcefully, but politely. Want an example to emulate? Here you go!
The ISRA has the specifics:
ISRA ACTION ALERT – NORTHBROOK VILLAGE BOARD TO VOTE TO REDEFINE STATE CCW LAW LOCALLY, BAN FIREARM ACCESSORIES – TUESDAY MAY 22
The Village of Northbrook is feeling left out, outdone by neighboring towns of Highland Park and Deerfield, so now it's "their turn" to come up with local infringements on the rights of gun owners that tempt future litigation. Northbrook intends to write its own CCW ordinances, overruling the state by banning CCW in any establishment where alcohol is served, regardless of what percentage of total income is derived from alcoholic beverages. The village also plans to ban the sale and possession of select firearm accessories, again, possibly in conflict with state law, including local penalties like revocation of business license.
Finally, the Village of Northbrook also has on the agenda discussion of how to enforce Cook County's semi-auto ban, a ban that has been in the courts since it was introduced. [Ed: Because Northbrook is awash in a surplus of taxpayer money that they wish to spend on legal bills, right?]
