Guns Save Life DIRECT ACTION ALERT! The gun hating left from Carbondale doesn't like the gun sanctuary county resolutions passed in nearly a dozen Illinois counties. They've organized behind a couple of members of the Jackson County Board to bring Chicago-style gun control to southern Illinois. The meeting will happen Tuesday night, May 22. We urge our southern Illinois Guns Save Life members and fellow gun owners to turn out in force for this meeting and let your voices be heard.
Yes, Christian County passed the gun sanctuary resolution last Thursday evening. More counties have them under consideration. But the Jackson County crowd, fueled by some leftist faculty members at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale want something entirely different. They want a county resolution supporting gun grabbing policies that have, over generations, turned Chicago into today's violent cesspool, chock full of crime, violence and mayhem.
SIU should continue to be better known for things besides carjacking, murders, drugs and gang activities.
We urge a strong attendance at this meeting to protect and defend our gun rights and the right to defend ourselves.
If you get a chance to speak, we suggest something along these lines:
"When are you gonna start standing up for the majority? We are the majority. The law-abiding citizens. It seems like everytime we have one of these shootings, you put the blame at our feet instead of the criminal's. We're the first ones punished when his happens. Our rights are the ones being taken away!"
The ISRA has a great action alert with all the details.
ISRA ACTION ALERT – GUN CONTROL COMES TO THE HEARTLAND:
MEET THE ANTI-GUNNERS AT THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD MEETING – TUESDAY MAY 22
On Tuesday, the Jackson County Board will discuss and likely take a vote on a resolution to send support for all of the gun control bills currently under consideration in the Illinois General Assembly in Springfield. Who are the anti-gunners on the Jackson County Board? Why are liberals intent on bringing Cook County's problems to Jackson County?
In brief, these bills would increase to 72 hours your waiting time to buy any semi-auto firearm despite decades of "instant check". They would also increase the age to own semi-auto firearms to 21, regulate and tax your local firearms retailer into extinction, turn your right to keep and bear arms over to the government if anyone decides to bear false witness against you, etc. But by far the worst thing that could come out of this will be the precedent that when your rights in Illinois are subject to attack by the liberals in the Illinois Legislature, the Jackson County Board will sing along.
Gun owners in the Heartland and especially those that live in or do business in Jackson County [Editor: or send your kids to SIU Carbondale!] are encouraged to come to the county board meeting, meet their anti-gun neighbors and offer their own voices during the public comment period.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO PROTECT YOUR FREEDOM
1. Starting Monday, May 21, reach out to the county board members for your district. Request that they not support this baseless resolution.
[Ed: Link to County Board members including contact info and bios HERE.
Contact the county board chairman, attorney John Rendleman, and let him know what you think. If you see him out in public, stop him and have a word with him. Call him and leave a short, polite message expressing your opposition for this hare-brained scheme. Email him with the same. If you see him at the grocery store, or the bank. Or walking in for the meeting.

REMEMBER – GUN CONTROL IS A DISEASE AND YOU ARE THE CURE
Please show me where the "gun grabbing" is. Of course I know you cant. And of course I know I cant convice you that the big bad guberment isn't out to take away all your guns. But just wanted to point out that the majority of people in this nation see you people for what you are.
Your gut might indeed be bigger than mine. Ditto for your footsize. Or head.
But when we have mainstream Democrats calling for gun confiscations and repeal of the 2nd Amendment, that's gun grabbing. Whether you want to admit it or not.
