Illinois is a deep blue state on the whole. And along with deep blue comes a disregard of and even a hatred for issues like gun rights for the little people among many in the political class – even among some Republicans. What’s surprised me in this election season is the unabashedly pro-gun positions staked out by many candidates.

At Guns Save Life, we can’t endorse candidates because of our tax status. We do, however, educate the people on candidates’ positions. Here are some races we’re aware of with a substantive difference between the candidates in contested Republican primary races.

Why just a handful of Republican races? Because not a single pro-gun Democrat has reached out to us. Frankly, that should be alarming by itself, but shows how Democrats running for office have moved hard left, refusing to progress toward a future of freedom and instead promoting a system of gun control that reenacts past tyrannies.

Here’s one of the races we’re looking at:  Adam Niemerg vs. Jim Acklin.  102nd House District.

Holy batpoop, Batman.

Yes, Adam Niemerg screwed up with his petitions for his candidacy.  Thanks to political operatives, he was ultimately removed from the ballot at the Republican candidate for 102nd House seat.  So Adam mounted a write-in candidacy.

His opponent, largely bankrolled by Big Education and organized labor is Jim Acklin.  I seem to recall he too had a problem with his petitions and couldn’t make the ballot.  Either way, problem or not, he too now has mounted a “write in” candidacy for the Republican nomination for the seat.

So it’s the “battle of the write-ins”.

What a circus, right?

So where do the two men land on the issue of gun rights for the little people?

Adam Niemerg has been to GSL meetings.  His 2A creds are impeccable.  What’s more, he’s got courage.  He’s sued in court challenging Pritzker gun ban.  He’s publicly opposed the measure along with sheriffs in his district.  He’s been a big voice of opposition to Pritzker’s gun ban and other gun control schemes.

Jim Acklin?  Not sure if he’s heard of Guns Save Life.  He hasn’t joined us at any of our meetings, and if he has, he hasn’t introduced himself.

We couldn’t find a website for Acklin’s campaign.  Does he even have a campaign?  Didn’t the teachers unions give him enough to hire someone to even put up so much as a Facebook page?  Apparently not.

I asked some trusted people about Acklin’s politics.  One rolled his eyes.  Another crossed his arms and took a deep breath and refused to even look at me.  A third turned away then turned back and said, “I’ll say it.  He’s a Democrat.”

I know there’s a wide spectrum of political philosophies of people who consider themselves Democrats, ranging from the John F. Kennedy Dems to the screaming, radical lunatics in Congress worried about tipping the island of Guam over if we have too many troops there.

“Where is he on guns?”

Nobody knows.

Here’s the best I could find:  A photo of Jim Acklin with our “old buddy” Rodney Davis.

“Got to have lunch with my good friend Congressman Rodney Davis…”  Acklin wrote in posting the photo back in Feb. 2022.  Right as Rodney was desperately trying to save his skin by running against GSL life member and Congresswoman Mary Miller.

Rodney lost.  Badly.

As for Jimmy Acklin, well there’s plenty of skeletons in his warehouse-sized walk-in closet.  Here’s a comprehensive report about Mr. Acklin from our friends over at Edgar County Watchdogs:

Jim Acklin has announced he is running as a write-in candidate against State Representative Adam Niemerg who is also a write-in candidate.  Niemerg has been endorsed by every GOP County Chairman in the 102nd district and is a member of the Illinois Freedom Caucus.

According to State Board of Election campaign reporting found here and here, Acklin is being funded by the Illinois Federation of Teachers, Illinois PAC for Education, and the Illinois Laborers Legislative Committee.

Acklin is currently the Acting Mayor of Ogden, Illinois, and Interim Superintendent of Chrisman Schools.  Acklin currently draws just under $11,000.00 ($10,980.82), a month from the Teachers Retirement fund as reported on Open the Books at this link.

We believe people should know their candidates, so here is what we and others wrote about Acklin the last time he ran for State Representative:

  • Prior reporting on Acklin regarding failures in mandated reporting allegations of sexual abuse of a child at this link.
  • Madison -St. Clair Record reporting on Acklin: “In sexual misconduct suit, state rep candidate said female student was responsible for relationship with teacher”.  Our prior reporting on that matter at this link
  • Acklin said “follow the money” (HERE) –
  • Prior reporting on bogus Acklin robocalls is found at this link.
  • Our prior reporting on Acklin regarding mandated reporting at this link and exposed by Liberty Principals PAC in his past campaign at this link.
  • Campaign funding reporting concerns were reported here and here.
  • Prior reporting on sexual abuse coverup at this link. (HERE);
  • We fact-checked an editorial about Acklin (HERE);
  • WCIA verified Acklin’s robocalls were not true. (HERE);
  • Acklin allowed electioneering in Chrisman Schools (HERE);

We attempted to reach out to Acklin for comments but could not find any email address for his campaign.

We urge voters to do their homework and vote accordingly.

Yeah, we agree.  Do your homework if you live in the current incumbent Adam Niemerg’s district, the 102nd House District in southeast Illinois.

Fill out the oval and write in the best name you feel would represent you, your gun rights and America the best.

This isn’t hard, folks.

  1. Not my district but I have family in that area. I’ll try to get them to make themselves a note who to vote for in the voting booth after they fill in that write-in oval. ADAM NIEMERG for the win!

    1. I’ll bet Adam loves the Illinois State Police. If so, and being a RepubliSTATIST Party member there’s about a 100% chance he would vote to give the abusive agency more money to carry out the Democrat gun ban. It’s just the kind of person Mr. Deplorable would support!

  2. I like Niemerg. He’s been great for what, four years? Maybe six? Clearly someone (cough education unions) are backing Acklin out of nowhere. But standing side by side with Rodney Davis? Yeah, birds of a feather. Go Adam go!
