God bless the Illinois Freedom Alliance. They must think I can work miracles. Why? They tasked me with explaining in just 500 words how 20,000+ gun control laws violate our Constitutional rights. It’s a tall order but here goes…
Some politicians and judges treat the US Constitution as merely a suggestion, not blackletter law. In fact, in Illinois, we’ve watched as some of our political leaders ignore not only the Constitution but also federal and state laws. Need an example? Look no further than illegal immigration.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, some inferior courts in America have taken to treating higher court precedent as a suggestion as well. Take, for example, the US Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals failing to abide by both the Second Amendment’s “shall not be infringed” verbiage as well as the Bruen and Heller decisions from the US Supreme Court.
The Seventh is not the norm, but sadly it’s not alone. As you read this, we see a legal insurrection in some federal courts as many narcissistic federal district and appellate court judges think they know better than the Founding Fathers and the US Supreme Court. They twist themselves into pretzels relying upon feelings and emotions instead of science, logic and legal precedents in reaching flawed decisions.
The bottom line.
Most gun control schemes in America are flatly unconstitutional. Firearm Owners ID (FOID) cards, waiting periods, gun and magazine bans, gun registration, ex parte Red Flag gun confiscations, restrictions on making guns at home… the list goes on and on of laws that violate our Constitutional rights. There are whole volumes of gun control laws on the books that should not survive judicial scrutiny.
In fact, in some locations, gun control laws are not surviving judicial scrutiny. In the first 18 months after the US Supreme Court’s Bruen decision, courts ruled more gun control schemes unconstitutional than in the forty-plus years before that combined. You didn’t read about that in the New York Times or see it on CNN or MSNBC.
Sooner or later most bad law and bad court decisions get thrown into the dustbin of history. Remember how laws and even a Supreme Court decision legitimizing school segregation were ultimately struck down as unconstitutional and unAmerican. Most don’t remember how it took years for judges, politicians, legislators and some die-hard racists to internalize that message.
So too I predict it will take a number of years for many of these gun control laws we know today to go away.
This is why Guns Save Life stands at the forefront with lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the FOID Act as well as the PICA gun and magazine ban.
While some Americans don’t understand how an armed society is a polite society, most do understand that the only thing that stops a bad person with evil in their hearts is a good guy with a gun.

Gee, I thought the Illinois General Assembly tried to violate the US Constitution as much as possible when writing PICA and Red Flag laws. Sort of a game, you know. I can screw these bastards more times than you can.
This state seems especially radical in their devotion to Marxism.
