One Blue Island police officer has a whole mountain of problems in front of him. Cops say he became enraged after a minor traffic collision with another motorist who happened to be an off-duty Chicago cop out on maternity leave. The hot-tempered Blue Island cop may have missed his last continuing education seminars on de-escalation as he proceeded to brandish his gun then fire a shot at the off-duty CPD officer.
One thing led to another and the Illinois State Police pulled over both motorists and took Mr. Blue Island into custody. A Blue Island sergeant came and took custody of the BI officer’s credentials.
Pro-tip: He’s gonna need a good attorney.
CHICAGO — An off-duty Blue Island police officer is in custody after he allegedly shot at an off-duty Chicago police officer’s car during a road rage incident Saturday evening, according to internal CPD communications provided to CWBChicago.
CWB is not identifying the Blue Island officer by name because charges have not yet been approved in the case.
According to a CPD report, a female Chicago officer who’s on maternity leave was riding in the front seat of a car that became involved in a minor crash with the 47-year-old Blue Island officer around 5:03 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Union.
After the crash, the report stated, the suburban cop “proceeded to pull alongside” the Chicago officer’s car. He “drew his weapon and discharged one round in the direction of [the Chicago officer’s] vehicle, striking the passenger side door barrier and ricocheting off the front windshield.” No injuries were reported.
Thankfully the Blue Island hothead had poor shooting skills because nobody was seriously hurt, physically at least.
There is too much plastic emitting harmful brain-altering chemicals causing people to lose their minds while driving. It’s that or people are just nuts.
Someone lost his cool. Imagine escalating a fender bender into pulling a gun and shooting at someone. Not rational or reasonable behavior. Bet the victim here wishes they had a dash cam.

Well, you don’t know that they don’t. Just because it’s not mentioned doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Blue Osland better have a goddamn good reason for what he did. I am guessing his goose is cooked. An rightly so.
Shoot a gun at me on the road and that driver may have a very, very bad day. And his insurance company isn’t gonna want to clean up the mess.
I would like to know if this is a long-time veteran, 20 years or more, or one of these desperation hires. The new hires in at least the last 5 years are not meeting traditional entry standards nor are they being vetted properly physically or psychologically. Keep defunding the po-lice…
