Seriously:  Why would anyone take their family to Navy Pier in Chicago, given the omnipresent crime there?  Do you really think those “gun free” signs keep you and your family safe?  Let me buy you a clue if you do:  those signs just ensure a disarmed victim zone.  Criminals, lunatics and terrorists laugh at those “gun free” signs.

But back to Navy Pier’s double homicide.  It wasn’t gang bangers blasting gang bangers, either.  The victims were decent, productive people.  They were shot at just after high noon on Election Day.  The story was buried, in part, by the news of the slaying of a Chicago cop Monday evening.

The killer, a convicted felon, brought an illegally possessed firearm into the gun-free zone known as Navy Pier and shot two workers there.  Shot them good and dead too.  Their wounds were described as “non-survivable.”

Here’s the story at CWB Chicago:

CHICAGO — Prosecutors have charged a man with murdering two of his former co-workers in an office at Navy Pier this week. Raylon East, 36, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon…

On Tuesday afternoon, a pier security guard called 911 upon discovering the two victims down in an office area near a loading dock. The victims, men ages 47 and 51, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but their injuries were not survivable.

Investigators found video footage of the gunman walking off the pier around 1:25 p.m. and heading west on Illinois Street at McClurg Court.

Here’s the suspect, Raylon East.

Whoever hired this mope made a very poor selection.
