If it weren’t for the dearth of good guys with guns in Chicago, violent criminals might rethink their belief that they can rob or otherwise victimize people without fear of consequences.  As it is, the criminal class knows that fewer cops mean less likelihood of arrest.  And thanks to No Cash Bail (and thanks to the Illinois Black Legislative Caucus, too), even if they are arrested, they will be promptly released.  And thanks to the local Team Soros prosecutor Kim Foxx, they probably won’t be prosecuted and if they are they probably won’t spend time in prison.

Is it any wonder why Chicago is a crime-ridden dystopian hellhole?

But one vendor, intent on protecting his life and livelihood, wasn’t playing the disarmed victim game.  He had a gun and he shot back Friday night when some thug tried to rob him at 8:50 in the evening from his food vendor truck parked next to Columbus Park – just blocks from the Loyola Medical Center Campus.

The thug suffered a sudden and profound error in his victim selection process.

In the end, the thug assumed room temperature (thank you for the taxpayer relief shots, Mr. Vendor) and the good guy escaped with a wound to his arm.  We wish him a speedy recovery.

CWB has the story:

CHICAGO — A food vendor licensed to carry a concealed firearm shot and killed a man who tried to rob him on the West Side on Friday evening, Chicago police said.

The vendor was working in the 300 block of South Central when a gunman approached him around 8:50 p.m. Police said a struggle ensued, and that quickly developed into a shootout between the robber and concealed carry holder.

The would-be robber, who police said was about 30 years old, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital. His 35-year-old victim was in good condition with a gunshot wound to the right arm.
