Springfield, IL (GSL) – On Saturday, December 14th, despite a driving rain and 33 degree temperatures, a number of our Guns Save Life family joined volunteers from other organizations to decorate the headstones at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

A couple hundred patriotic Americans placed roughly 12,000 wreaths over the course of an hour or two. At each headstone, they spoke the veteran’s name aloud and thanked them for their service, keeping their name alive.

Despite the bitter, wet cold, the experience of honoring our American heroes felt incredibly rewarding and more than a little like a religious experience on hallowed ground. God bless our veterans.
