We filed our lawsuit challenging the Cook County gun and ammo tax back in 2015. Yeah, it’s been a few years. We lost all the way up to the Illinois Supreme Court which handed us a victory in striking down the lower courts rulings against us.
Yeah, that was pretty sweet.
And the Illinois Supreme Court wrote in their decision how to remedy the curious flaws the justices of the Illinois Supreme Court found in the law.
And Cook County promptly passed an amended ordinance remedying those deficiencies. And, according to my refresher read of today’s decision, the IL Supreme Court ordered the lower courts to rule on the other issues.
Well, they contemplated this at the Cook County Circuit Court. And today, the Cook County Circuit Court handed us another victory in the case.

It’s a simple order: two pages. Which speaks volumes.
Congrats. Am I reading it right that this has lingered for ten years? That seems so hard to believe.
Is GSL eligible for reimbursement of legal fees incurred in this lengthy case?
And what about all the ill-gotten gains the county got with the illegal tax? Do they have to somehow refund that to those affected?
Thanks for the perseverance.
Too many questions!
I’m pretty clever when it comes to this stuff and I don’t understand it at all. Based on the others’ questions here I’m not the only one.
Would you please explain?
You are not alone
