Good news from the Illinois State Rifle Association.
Bad news for the Illinois Coalition Against Handgun Ownership and all the rest of the Soros- and Joyce Foundation-funded anti-gun groups in Illinois.
ISRA is announcing two new grassroots meeting locations in an email to members today. One word: BRAVO.
We, as gun owners, are winning this culture war as we educate our fellow Americans. Contrary to those who seek increased government control of people, we’re not about manipulating people using rich, fatcats’ money. We want people to understand the truth so we will all be better, smarter citizens.
We encourage those living within driving distance to go and participate at these ISRA meetings in Chicagoland, in addition to the Guns Save Life meeting on the last Sunday of the month in Oak Lawn.

Our speaker this month: Former Chicago Bear John Janata, the 6′ 7″, 274-pound Energizer bunny for gun rights.
One last thing: There seem to be a tiny handful of people who continue to parrot rumors and innuendo that Guns Save Life doesn’t like, support, or embrace our allies at the Illinois State Rifle Association. Let me make this perfectly clear: Guns Save Life likes the Illinois State Rifle Association and we wish them well at what they do. Anyone who tells you otherwise is no friend of gun rights, plain and simple, or they have ulterior motives. You should treat them accordingly.
We at Guns Save Life go out of our way to support our sister organization, particularly in their grassroots endeavors to help get the word out and educate Illinoisans. We already work with them to achieve shared goals and stand ready to assist them in future projects.
This post is but yet one more example of how we strive to work together with ISRA to achieve our goals.
Two Additional ISRA Grassroots Groups!
|
Getting CCW in Illinois was not the end of the road, but a new beginning. ISRA members need to remain vigilant and need the opportunity to meet with their peers for strategy, information sharing and camaraderie! ISRA Grassroots groups are continusing to form around the state, with the addition of two groups in the Chicago metro area in September and October.. Meetings are intended to be held monthly and will start at 7:00 pm on a weeknight, and are scheduled for one hour. What can you expect at an ISRA Grassroots meeting? These new meetings are: Chatham in Chicago’s South Side 807 E 82nd St, Chicago, IL 60619
RSVP Chatham – Click Here 917 E. Roosevelt Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187
There is no charge to attend, but because these meeting places have limited space, members are asked to RSVP to indicate that they will attend, so that we don’t overwhelm the hospitality of our hosts. If you are in one of the two areas listed above, please try to attend the initial meeting. If your area is not listed here in this message, don’t despair! Existing meetings: Deerfield South Suburban (formerly Hazel Crest) |
When I read that some people are saying GSL isn’t supporting the ISRA, I had to laugh. Who would believe such crap. I’ve heard nothing but warm things about ISRA at GSL meetings. If memory serves, ISRA’s Executive Director Rich Pierson was supposed to be a main speaker at a GSL meeting in Pontiac a couple of years ago. Not sure if he ever attended, but if GSL hated ISRA, why would they / (“We” I should say as I’m a proud member) invite ISRA’s head honcho to be the guest speaker?
What’s more: Guns Save Life does more promotion of IGOLD than anyone in the state. That includes ISRA. I know. I’m a member of both groups.
I have no doubt that GSL’s support has been the single, largest reason for IGOLD’s success. Without GSL promoting it to the masses, **attendance would be half or less** of what we’ve seen.
I hope GSL’s support and promotion can lead to successful ISRA grassroots meeting locations. If I recall, the last batch of ISRA grassroots locations didn’t do so well, but hopefully these will meet with more success.
If we all work together, we can get so much more done.
Sam
I’ll add that Guns Save Life is the reason I’ve been at almost all of the last four IGOLDs.
I cold say the exact same thing. See you there next March.
Given that ISRA does little to promote or support Guns Save Life, it merely makes GSL’s promotion of ISRA stuff even more impressive.
Well done, GSL!
Not near me, but anything we can do to mobilize the good peeps in Chicago is good.
Any interest in getting something like this going in the NW burbs? Palatine, Arlington Heights etc…
In a nutshell, get six to eight of your close friends together, identify a location to host the meetings, line up food (that’s why restaurants or locations with banquet halls / food service work well), and decide upon a coordinator and we’ll move forward on it, sending you a guideposts guide to launching a GSL meeting location.
THanks for asking!
John
